There are a number of things I enjoyed about Cattle Country! Gatherable resources are abundant and diverse (trees for wood/fruit, flowers, mushrooms, grass for hay, etc.), which makes the world feel full and vibrant. I LOVE the mine setup. The art for dawn/morning is breathtaking. What I liked less about Cattle Country is more reflective of my personal gaming style than the game itself, so keep that in mind! I maxed out my mining skill early on and expected to unlock the recipe for dynamite. When I didn't unlock the recipe, I did a little digging online and learned that unlocking the recipe for dynamite is dependent on your relationship with Jeb. I don't spend a lot of time socializing in these types of games, so my relationships with all of the townsfolk are lackluster...which, in some ways, prevents me from advancing in the game. If you enjoy cultivating relationships then this obviously won't be a problem for you. Overall, Cattle Country is a colorful, cute, farming sim with a...

I would love to recommend this Stardew Clone, however, it is sloppy and soulless. There seems to be one or possibly two music tracks that constantly loop. The townspeople don’t seem to be well fleshed out. Everything about this screams “I want to be Stardew Valley, and we will rip it off (poorly) and call it an homage”. Maybe after a few updates it will be worth it, but I’d recommend passing for now.
It's cozy, you can have pets, make friends, get married, build both the town up as well as your own home. Decide to be a rancher, farmer, miner, whatever ya like. You can even make good money in creative ways, the game doesn't box you into a specific thing. For example I decided I was interested in playing the game as the owner of a Winery, with my own vineyards. All doable! It also runs PERFECTLY on the steam deck. I turn the FPS down to 60 and the wattage down to 9/10 and get about 10 hours of play time per charge with zero issues.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Meeets Stardew valley in this BANGER! This game SLAPS. The music SLAPS Gameplay? you guessed it.... SLAPS. i haven't gotten this addicted to playing a game since stardew valley. It's all the little things. the amount of animals and stuff to grab. GIVE ME ALL THE STUFFFFFF. Farming, ranchin', Town events, great NPC's to interact with. The mining is a lot of fun, Although i admit i haven't gotten to far down in the mines. Way different experience than stardew valley mining. i could go on and on about this game YOU GOTTA TRY THIS FOR YOURSELF! PLUS! BONUS! The actor who voiced Arthur Morgan in Red dead redemption 2 does some voice lines when you start the game. haven't gotten anymore dialog from him yet but im sure i will in the future! 10 OUTTA 10!
I'm really enjoying Cattle Country. It certainly has a Stardew Valley vibe, but there is enough different here to give it its own identity. The game doesn't hold your hand, you have to tinker with things to develop the best strategies, and given that it currently has a tiny community, it is hard or impossible to Google details about what do in any given situation. I really find I enjoy the setting, as there is a sense that you're building a community by supporting it as a farmer, and that your success is paramount to the success of everyone else. The mining is also fun and different. If you like farming sims, I highly recommend Cattle Country, especially if it is on sale, as it has a low price point. That said, if you're burnt out of Stardew Valley type games, you should really decide if you want to play something with similar game play loops. A final note, I wish you could change the font, it is the one aspect I'm not loving.
Great Harvest Moon / Stardew like game. Great lil' western farming/ranching game. Recommend if you want a chill farming game.
First and foremost, this game really should be classified as early access as it is in development still, and some large elements you might expect (meaningful relationships for example) are still not in the game yet. With that said, the game is pretty fun, its star dew'esk, with a strong western feel, that is well done, and does well at give the vibe of a small western town. I'm only 10 hours in, and if opinions change will update.
Im playing on my Steam Deck Oled. In the first 15 minutes it has two hard crashes and one incident of the sound just cutting out and not coming back until I restarted. Every time it has made start from the beginning and have to create a character again. Bruh. The game seems fun. I love the game it is inspired by. But for some weird artistic choice, every male character looks like a woman dressed up as a man for Halloween. It's very creepy and off-putting. Im going to keep playing though. Will update if the crashes stop.
fun game just wont fish i dont understand the mechanic of it so that quest to catch 20 fish wont get completed why cant it be like stardews mechanic i understand that one better
the love child of my 2 fave games <3
