A winter haunting was a great and excellent game! The story line was very interesting with some challenging puzzles. The puzzles were very unique which required brain power in the best way possible. The plot twist was unexpected and everything tied in well at the end. The graphics were beautifully designed and stylistic. The characters and dialogue were engaging with humor in between the serious game play. As a fanatic of puzzle room/escape type games, this was a treat.

A Winter Haunting!!! I really loved it. I will preface this by saying that AB (the game designer and developer) is a dear friend of mine, because I don't want my review to seem skewed, but let me make it clear--if I didn't enjoy the game, I'd just avoid reviewing it. The game is wonderful. It's so evident that AB put her heart and soul into this project. You can see it in the details. The art, the audio design, the clever dialogue, and the thought-provoking story all come together to form a game that is unique, fun to play, and rewarding to beat. The puzzles are HARD. Well, most of them. As in, I had to get help to complete some of them hard. If you enjoy a challenge, this game is definitely for you. It took me two Twitch streams to get through the entire thing, and only a minor amount of yelling about math. (Just kidding, I yelled about the math a lot.) My video here on YouTube (Spoiler free!) sums it up pretty well, and will give you some visuals so you know what you're in for. ...
Really liked the art style and the decision of not adding any features (eyes, mouth, nose) to faces. Makes art more unique. The dialogs are witty (which I always consider a must in point n click adventure games) and the story is looking pretty interesting, with puzzle variety.
Binged this game in one go. So refreshing to play a game that you can tell has so much love and care that has been put into it. The style, story and even game play mechanics and features are so excellent. While it is a relatively shorter game (took me about 3 hours from start to finish) It's definitely worth it. I cannot wait to see what the creator does in the future and I'll definitely be staying tuned for their next game endeavors!!
This is not just a puzzle game - it is a charming and magical adventure! Among the puzzle games I've played, I'd rate this amongst my favorites. It feels like a game and story that has soul to it; even when all you're doing is fulfilling a fetch quest, it never starts to feel tedious or uninspired. Exploration, thoroughness and experimentation feel rewarding, which is GREAT, because that's basically all I want to do in games, explore and experiment thoroughly! The spooky undertones are really just that, undertones. I enjoyed that, not being a big fan of horror. Describing this game as "cozy" works. The puzzles did stump me in some parts (I swear my math lessons did not prepare me adequately, hah, and sometimes I just couldn't figure out where to find a missing piece), but in other parts I nearly stumbled into the solution. I enjoy the fact that pressing H shows you everything you can interact with, so I do not feel like I am missing out while exploring! In the end, the game took me b...
I enjoyed this game a lot! The puzzles were challenging but solveable and Everlyn was very likable as a main character. I was able to guess some of the ending but still enjoyed seeing it play out. I wish the ending had been a little longer but I would definitely recommend the game!
GREAT GAME!! Puzzles were hard enough to really need to look around and think. Enjoyable length. Both endings are great too.
I really enjoyed this game! It's a great point-and-click adventure style game that with a cozy nostalgic feel. It's not super scary but still has an element of mystery and charm which I believe is a good balance. The puzzles are just complex enough to be challenging but not frustrating. Overall, a great casual game.
A Winter Haunting is partly a point-and-click and partly a puzzle adventure game. There are some simple inventory puzzles and some interactions with NPCs, but the emphasis is on information/logic puzzles. The inventory-based puzzles are quite reasonable, and there are lots of responses for using items, letting you know whether or not you're on the right track. The logic puzzles are pretty good (except perhaps for one annoyance where there is a reference to hours and to a clock and then it turns out it has nothing to do with the clock puzzle). It's always neat to see some real-world things used as a puzzle. If you're not familiar with matrix multiplication, it does feel like a solid puzzle to do some in-game research to find out the rules and then follow those cryptic rules to get the result. The game has two levels of hints: there's an optional source of information that gives slightly different (usually more transparent) hints in addition to the hints collected in the main game. I...
Overall, I really liked this game. I was able to unlock all achievements after multiple iterations of the game, so I know it quite well by now. I can speed-run it in ~5 minutes. The artwork is stunning, and the music matches the tone of each scene in the game. The puzzles were very clever. I didn't believe there would be much in a simple point-click game (with a few shortcut keys), but it actually proved me wrong and got me hooked. I also liked how some of the dialogue hinted to the puzzle solutions, and it gave me that feeling of "ugh I wished I paid attention!" once I solved the puzzle. What I appreciated in particular was how the very responses I would give, as Everlyn, ended up being used against me. Nonchalantly, I just went with whatever I thought was interesting, and didn't realize how it backfired. That caught me off guard, as I assumed it would just be a point-click game where I solve puzzles - it became more than that, and it was like I had to reassess my every decision in ...
