So far I'm glad I took a shot at this after checking the demo a ways back. I was initially a little put off by the art but having played I'm really appreciating it for its clarity; I never get confused about what I should be paying attention to. There's also a nice bunch of physics object to break and kick around that makes the world feel more embodied and lively, and they are a notable part of fights since big stacks of barrels or w/e visually screen you from the enemies, intercept projectiles, etc. Tip: you can break those with the Use action; you don't have to attack/roll through them. Each level (of the 3 I've encountered, after beating 2 very different bosses) has its own tile set, music, level mechanics, and enemies thus far. It alt-tabs like a dream, crisp menus, this has a real craft and care to it. I've not felt like I've had to "forgive" the game anything for its tiny dev team. The mid-run suspend save & quit is a great feature, it's stunning how uncommon that feature still i...

About This Game
Knight of Nevermore is a 2D action roguelike where skill and strategy are key. Accurately timing your attacks, dodges, and parries makes the difference between crushing defeat or emerging from combat unscathed. Battle your way through procedurally-generated levels that change on every run, and power up by assembling potent combos and synergies. Achieving victory will be hard, but every run is a chance to expand your knowledge and try new strategies.
Fight Like a Mage Knight
Combat in Knight of Nevermore is tight and difficult, but entirely fair, and every enemy has a handcrafted move-set to challenge you in new ways. You'll need to learn enemy patterns, master timings, and leverage spells and items to tip the balance in your favor.
Build Strategically
With numerous unique items, weapons, spells, and consumables, every run offers new choices and combos. Become indomitable, pile up resources, sling spells, or land mighty melee attacks: you never know what opportunities the next run will bring.
Explore the Darkness
Navigate through large procedurally-generated levels filled with loot, danger, and the occasional respite. Manage risk versus reward and make the most of your resources to give yourself the best chance of surviving.
Die and Go Again
Knight of Nevermore is a challenging game, and you will fall again and again on the path to victory. But each death is a chance to learn and improve, and ultimately only skill and perseverance are needed to prevail.

User Reviews
I found the game very difficult at first but it became much more manageable as I learned the mechanics. When you die, it's always clear that it was due to a lack of skill - and that you can improve with practice. The game features a wide variety of items, allowing for interesting combinations in each run. Enemy types and bosses all have distinct play styles, making them unique and challenging to defeat. While the developer recommends using a controller, I have had no issues playing with a keyboard, although I did remap the controls to my preference. I do recommend starting with the tutorial - it explains some important game mechanics and transitions smoothly into the main game.
In a world full of pixel art games, it is great to find something uniquely eye catching. Game play wise, sure, I've died a tonne of times already, but the game seems to mix the right amount of "dang it I died" with "let me try again!" Thankfully there is an easy mode (for us less experienced folks) - but playing on Normal I got to the first boss without too many hiccups. It will take a while to figure out the economy and item pool and weapons (haven't hit a duplicate yet) - but there is still a lot of the night left. I'd recommend if you want a game with a high replayability factor.
Fun Game. Reminds me a bit of old school Super Mario, but more interactive and needs a better understanding of weapons, armour and abilities. would def recommend, (I just need to remember to use my shield more. 🤣)
Ugh...don't waste your money. Just another game where the developers say it's best played with a controller...but the controller won't work.
