About This Game

Born a slave, Adewale found freedom as a pirate aboard Edward Kenway’s ship, the Jackdaw. 15 years later, Adewale has become a trained Assassin who finds himself shipwrecked in Saint-Domingue without weapons or crew. He now has to acquire a ship and gather his own crew to free the slaves and avenge them. Over 3 hours of new single-player gameplay!
Playing Assassin’s Creed® Freedom Cry doesn't require a copy of Assassin’s Creed®IV Black Flag™.

Came back to this game for old times' sake and getting those achievements. A bit of sailing and plundering, a bit of fighting and liberating here and there, etc. Not much to explore (except that one underwater wreckage giving me a bit of hard time) and the story feels mediocre to me, but this game is overall good back in its days.

If you like black flag there's no reason to not play this Significantly less shanties, but significantly more blunderbuss' Adewale is an absolute unit Easy to get 100% achieve in one playthrough

Quick, fun playthrough for any AC lover. There's only 9 main missions, the map is really small, and getting all achievements only takes under 6 hours. Definitely makes for something different just after playing through Black Flag. I'd definitely only recommend buying this along with the Black Flag when it is on sale. It is not worth buying Freedom Cry separately, especially for full price. It is certainly not worth $15.

After platinuming two games in the franchise and owning almost all of them, I began my platinum journey for the other games, starting with Freedom Cry. It's the one with the fewest achievements, an older game, but it still manages to offer mediocre naval battles, requiring me to grind a lot to upgrade my ship to survive. The stealth mode isn't great, as you can't crouch like in the other two I've played. This is understandable, as the two I've played were more recently released, while Freedom Cry is older. Would I recommend the game, honestly? Yes, but only for those who enjoy older games.

While I enjoyed my time with this game, don't get this. Blackflag is superior and comes with this included. For the game itself, its more ground gameplay with the occational ocean moments, but they are far less important than in Blackflag. Ade is a brutal assassin, and the story is quick and dirty, but not very deep or engaging. The game itself is very Assassin's Creed, with a bunch of mechanics boiling down to just running over to somewhere and holding a button before running away. This is most prominent on the Plantations you have to do throughout the game. If you like the series, you'll probably like this game too, but not here. Again, just get Blackflag and play it there.
