I love everything about the presentation (especially the soundtrack) and idea, save for actually playing it. Getting to a new destination involved so much combat, that's really simple, that gets old real fast, that I quickly lost the desire to Keep Driving. I think this would work better as more pure sim, with dice roll events, something closer to a modern Oregon Trail.

About This Game
It’s the early 2000’s, and you’ve just bought your first car.
A long, slow summer lies ahead. Hearing about a festival on the other side of the country, you fire up your engine, plot a course on your map, and hit the road. How, if you get there at all, is up to you.Procedurally generated pixel art open world
Keep Driving is a management RPG about slowly making your way through a procedurally generated pixel art open world. Pick up hitchhikers with their own personalities and stories; upgrade, customize and repair your car. Solve challenges on the road using a unique turn-based ‘combat’ system, using your own skills and whatever’s lying around in the glovebox to make it through. At the end of your road trip, return back to the beginning and see what happens if you had followed a different path. There are multiple endings, with each taking about 1-4 hours to complete. Immerse yourself in the land through its highways, dirt tracks, and calm country roads. And remember to enjoy the ride. You're young and don't have much to lose.
Features:
- A procedurally generated pixel art world to explore one road at a time.
- A nostalgic early 2000s setting with an emphasis on the analogue .
- Use turn-based ‘combat’ to solve situations (like getting stuck behind a tractor).
- Pick up misfits, oddballs and lost souls as you go.
- Collect songs and listen to a mix CD of local Swedish indie bands.
- Multiple endings to unlock when you return to the road.
- Inspired by Oregon Trail II, FTL, Two Lane Blacktop, Paris Texas, Jalopy, Gloom Haven, The 7th Continent, and the developer’s lives.

User Reviews
It was a fukkkkn wonderful series of careless summer adventures that I recommend everyone to go through. 10/10 easily, unusual gem of the game industry
Over priced. It's an okay game but it's pretty shallow. Things get repetitive very quickly. Not enough events, not enough passengers. At best it's like a 8 dollar game.
Really neat game I could see myself enjoying, but the combat just ruins it for me. "Combat" is really repetitive and seems so tacked on as a cookie cutter put this item in this slot, and hope you don't get screwed over by RNG. Which becomes quite tedious to what should be a more relaxed game. I found just wasn't enjoyable. Could see an alternative mode where it goes automatically goes through the combat or an alternative combat system entirely so this could be more enjoyable. I might pick this up later, since it is a good game - just wish it wasn't so repetitive with the combat.
Biggest summer vibe game of 2025 for sure! The soundtrack alone gives this game five stars!
those threat bullshit gaymeplay is killing all the vibes
Take it easy, you're young. You have time.
loved the visuals, sound, music and style in general... but the weird road minigames killed it
Despite all its flaws and shortcomings I couldn't help but keep driv... playing this game till its completion. Keep Driving is a simple rpg with roguelite elements trying to replicate the experiences and the feelings of a road trip. The game plays in a 2D dimension, choose the location you want to go and while on the actual road driving you'll face some random turn based events which have to be cleared using your skills or items. All these events are based on things that could really happen when driving, like encountering a flock of sheep blocking the road, helping a person whose car broke down or even being chased by cops (who hasn't before?). There's a good variety of these events but, even though we have lots of skills and traits to choose from, ultimately the turn based system feels very redundant and has a high chance of making you bored with the game. Even small trips will have at least 3 of these events and, personally, I think 1 or 2 less events per road would balance the gamep...
Keep Driving is a perfect roguelite in every way. The pixel artwork and music are incredible and really add to the general atmosphere. The mechanics are creative and interweave with the theme quite well. The freedom to drive around and explore whatever quests and endings that you want is also very welcome. Very strongly recommended.
