A highly underrated gem of an RPG-VN-management game. Reminds me a lot of Sword & Sandals with the position-based combat, but the addition of having six slots for weapons and three miscellaneous slots to push your various builds just across the finish line, there's a decent amount of depth to be found in the round-to-round combat that your cute-dumb robot girl finds herself in. You have three months to take this no name, no memory, runt of a robot girl from a rankless nobody to a rank B fighting machine in order to enter the Robot Battle Championship (affectionately nicknamed the RBC). Scavenge, buy, or acquire parts through good or nefarious deeds as you explore Astromere, the city of the future populated by sentient robots and humans coexisting side-by-side! Little plotlines you follow through with each day, whether it's from doing work or visiting friends and acquaintances often net you valuable parts and rewards. These are fixed rewards, so once you know what story beats unlock w...

I've gotten one of the major endings finally and it was so thrilling and emotional then I expected. The game is VERY difficult so don't worry about going to easy or unlimited continues. It's also possible to end up in a softlock/bad-end if your skills are not good enough, so don't be afraid to return to the start of the game. Remember that the heart of this game is a VN, so don't try to chase all the storylines in one go. Try to stick to a few and learn what works from there. It's well worth getting that ending.
Incredibly cute little time-management/raising sim game featuring an adorable robot girl! From the moment you get to name her in the beginning, the robot girl immeidately begins to grow on you until you're eager to make her as powerful as she can be and reach the top! It feels very VN-like, with a lot of your time spent reading interactions between your soon-to-be champion and the decently big variety of characters around the city, as this is how you acquire new locations to scout and often times new equipment as well. There are a lot of variant weapons, body part replacements, extra features, and hairstyles to choose from, and upgrades for most. That equipment is used in the game's turn based battles, which while I'm sure are nothing groundbreaking, but are presented in a really enjoyable format. My setup was based around the combo chip, which gave a growing multiplier to every next attack as long as an attack wasn't repeated. I'm sure this is far from the only build, however, as ...
This game is near-perfect, and if you like life-sim RPGs or robot girls, you're doing yourself a disservice by not playing it. In a world of post-ironic quip-ridden character dialogues, genre deconstructions, 'punched-up' scripts and shallow clones, this brings what most titles with a hundred times its budget cannot: Pure sincerity. Every part of Robot Girl's Dream is carefully crafted such that the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts. The graphics may not be impressive, but the art style is exactly what this cute game about a naive robot girl needs, and there's a long list of great character designs, and it truly recognises the value of being able to buy cute clothes for your robot girl and have them represented in battle. Every character's personality is well communicated by the VN-style portraits with some surprisingly subtle expressions given the simplistic style. The music may be basic, but it sells the personality of the main character and the world she inhabits...
