Void Sols

Really amazing game that is challenging and has great puzzles! There are lots of secrets to find and bosses to conquer. It will probably take you around 10-15 hours to complete the majority of the content, then there are additional challenge modes to play if you want something even harder and want to spend more time in the game.

Fun soulslike. Recommended.

Very enjoyable soulslike with simple but charming visuals. Short and sweet but couldn't put it down throughout that runtime, definitely recommended.

Super accessible Souls-Like. The ability to fully respec your character at a bonfire, and save multiple loadouts to swap between make the game a lot of fun to experiment with, and I don't get that "stats FOMO" feeling I do from DarkSouls/EldenRing whenever I have to choose between level 50 Endurance or level 48 Dexterity.

Quick Description: -Void Sols is a minimalist top down souls-like with a lot of flexibility in build variety and tons of rewarding shortcuts to find. Unfortunately, this is where the positives end from my perspective. Another reviewer put it perfectly, when he said that mid game is extremely frustrating b/c biomes are either trivially easy or brutally difficult. The Factory Boss is considered one of the harder bosses in the game, and I couldn't believe he had a second phase. But it was the Apex Outskirts that finally broke my will to continue. For some reason, this area has zero shortcuts or checkpoints until you beat the boss. This is astounding to me. I had a heck of a time getting to this boss with near full health and so much of my play time was spent killing the same enemies a dozen times on my way to a boss. Consensus: -Bottom Shelf Game (Tier 5 and makes up 10% of my reviews). Sekiro is one of my favorite games of all time. I love Bloodborne, Elden Ring, Lies of P, Dar...

A must buy if you like soulslikes.

Slightly more nuanced review. (Still positive). There can be a lot of backtracking. The next goal is not always obvious. If you like that or not is up to you. The *only* thing I *don't* like about the game so far is the light grey lines during gameplay. This is so amazing!

Very inventive top-down souls-like. Had many "Uh"'s and "Wow"'s during the game. Bosses are their own genre of fun.

Underrated, and I say that knowing full-well that this game is sitting at a 97% approval rating. (I have more playtime than Steam has tracked) Once in a long while, I play a demo where within two minutes I say 'Oh F yes' out loud, and hit purchase. You might consider me an incautious consumer, but I was not wrong in making that judgment in the case of Void Sols. It's a hit from the very first. There's something so delightful about the polygons-as-characters approach that this game uses. You almost feel like you're playing a spaceships with swords and knives sort of game- shapes are just the symbols that convey the functional meaning, and for some reason, it really feels like it adds something here. Anyway, check out the demo- I've been finding myself tired of video games often lately, but this one really hit the spot. Simple in all the right ways, and none of the wrong ones.
