Wow, it's good. I mean that. Sure, it's a slow burn; and the way the story is presented means that to get the most of it you really have to immerse yourself in it. That also dictates how the horror elements are delivered - if you're here just for that, then be advised: most of the game is indeed planet scanning and managing your meager finances. That's part of what makes this game what it is. Delicious. Now, maybe it's just me, but I found certain parallels between the events of the game and, well, reality. I don't know if that was intentional, but it made the horror hit that much harder. I'll probably be thinking about it for quite some time. Another thing: there is some AI-generated art in the game. But even though I am very strongly opposed to everything AI these days, in this particular case it's... fine, actually. It fits its purpose rather well. Don't hate the game for it, pretty much everything is handcrafted except that particular part. You'll see. Oh, and 22% of pl...

About This Game
You're just here to do a job. The universe has other plans for you.
Planet Scanner is a semi-procedural horror narrative disguised as a job simulator set in an isolated, cramped space station.
You are ScanCorp's newest Planet Scanner and your task is to discover, study, and claim distant planets on behalf of your employer. The business of selling planets is booming, especially as the search for intelligent alien life heats up...
GET YOUR ASSIGNMENTS
Use your computer to check emails, get your daily assignments, and learn more about the galaxy around you. Stay up to date with the news, check the market prices for certain planetary traits, and buy upgrades to make your job easier!
SCAN THE STARS
The telescope is your main way of observing the universe, so use it to lock onto a star and bring up its' local system on the map console. Scan planets to discover them, learn more about their unique properties, and upload them to ScanCorp's servers.
SEARCH FOR SIGNALS
You may be asked to ping planets in search of potential alien transmissions. Lock in the waveforms, decrypt the signals, and hopefully don't open a Pandora's box you never could have fathomed.
TAKE IMAGES OF PLANET SURFACES
Sometimes, the only way to learn more about a planet is to take a look for yourself. Find a good imaging sight, match the coordinates, and see what lurks on the surface.
Total playtime averages about 2.5 hours. There are 23 in-game nights.

fun game. really dig the loop. just wish there was a endless mode with no time limit to just scan to my hearts desire
Fun and short "job simulator" sort of game, where you man a planet scanning station and search for planets with specific traits that will maximise the amount of profit you make for the company. The story is delivered to you in-game emails, and a sort of social media and news feed, detailing the happenings around the galaxy, all while you spend your time looking for planets with increasing demands and profit quotas. It starts out quite slow, as you only need to scan, upload, and make sure you hit your targets, but as you go along, you unlock a couple of other tools that then become a requirement to use, and make the game a little more hectic. You can mitigate some of this by buying upgrades with money you get from working. The more money you make for the company, the more money you get, which then lets you buy upgrades that let you work faster.... in order to get more money. You can determine how much each planet trait is worth by checking the planetary stock market, and making sure...
