Today is a very sad day, for it's the day I've beaten LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW. I loved EVERY second of it, it was so much fun and felt like it was made for me. I'll definitely replay it eventually, maybe even try to get all achievements. I don't know what to say here exactly, it was just EXTREMELY fun and a great time. There are many moments it becomes obvious the lack of budget, but God, is it fun... Amazing and unforgettable game.
I have literally no idea how many hours I spend on the original on my Playstation 3, but it's a testament to this game that I bothered to unlock pretty much everything including the costumes, concept art, alternative ending etc. Why? Because despite the jank, the rubbery camera, some low-key Suda 51 perving etc, the game, like its protagonist, is just *so damn likeable*. It's ridiculously silly, of course, but it's not afraid to be silly and to play the silliness straight, if you follow me. The voice acting from the VO artists who play Juliet and Nick is absolutely perfect - they remain probably the most adorable couple in videogames - and the dialogue is fantastic, it's spot on for their characters. I remember at the time of the original release that James Gunn was involved with the project, to what extend I have no idea, but it certainly feels like something he'd do: the juxtaposition of ludicrous Evil Dead 2 style horror (fountains of blood, hordes of reanimated student corpses)...
The gameplay footage shows the combat feeling smooth, combos being able to be chained very fluidly, and the dialogue quippy and funny, but that just isn't the case, the inputs are laggy, the dialogue is so janky that very few of jokes land. It's a terrible attempt as a "remaster".

Big nope. I think I like the idea of how this game might play, but the actual thing is pretty horrible. This is supposed to be a remaster, but the combat has no business being this bad in 2024. It had no business being that bad back in 2012. People complain that the removed OST ruins the experience, but I don't believe a song that could fix this mess had been written yet.
