I want to highlight that this is a very early days discussion of Early Access, but I am optimistic. The whole premise appeals to me, and it's gone through a series of evolutions across the demo stage. I don't begrudge the devs moving to EA to see whether what kind of audience they might find. If you want to check out the game, I'd try the demo: at this stage buying the game is supporting further development and I'm happy to have done that. I'll update this as things change.

About This Game
Venture across a post-industrial wasteland, spreading mycelium to unveil hidden resources and raise symbiotic structures. Your mission isn't just survival, but to weave life back into a desolate earth, standing against the encroachment of a resource-greedy Will-E AI.
Features:
- Unique bio-strategy gameplay: Explore, expand, and engage with a living world in a way only a mycelial network can.
- Environmental Resilience: Utilize specialized absorbers to mitigate smog and radiation, turning adversity into opportunity.
- Symbiotic Structures: Erect spore towers for exploration or nurture forests for resource trade, each decision leaves a lasting imprint.
- A Contrast of Goals: Face off against an extractive AI, showcasing a clash between the technological and the organic.
- "Mycelium Guardians" invites you to a narrative where the pulse of nature beats strong amidst the remnants of human ambition. This demo is your first step into a world where every spore sown is a step towards rebirth.

The game seems promising but at this point its not an early access, its just a demo, literally. The demo and full version are the same game, The only difference is that in full game you can skip the tutorial. It took me 1 hour to complete the game with everything it had to offer (in the demo). After buying the full game I was able to reach the same point of completeness in just 15 minutes (after I learned all the mechanics).
Truthfully enjoyable game. Very calming to just spread the fungus and grow various things to help you create a stockpile of resources and personally felt great about seeing how large I could grow the mycelium. Really great start in a great direction, very unique compared to a lot of other games coming out recently, feels good to sit back and take your time growing a mushroom kingdom. Because it's early access of course there is going to be more added/improved down the road but genuinely can't wait to see where it goes.
[Updated 9th June 2025] Still no updates, game has been effectively abandoned. [Updated 20th Dec 2024] The game hasn't been updated for over 5 months now. Do not buy. [Original Review] Mycelium Guardians is little more than a tech demo at this stage. There's practically nothing to do, all you can really do is expand the mycelium network outwards and run in to some structures here and there. There are enemies in the game, but so far all I've seen them do is walk back and forth until getting blocked by grass or one of your structures. After which they just explode with a fade-to-white effect. I played the game for about 40 minutes, 20 of which were spent just waiting for the mycelium to expand outwards. The game slows to a crawl very rapidly, falling below 10 fps within those first 20 minutes. I also noticed that the game was using over 12GBs(!) of RAM around this point. Frankly, the game should've been far more refined even as an early access title. I understand that developing a...
