Despite the very good visuals and nice art style, this game lacks something to hold my interest. It is extremely slow-paced. Your character moves slowly and rolls at the fastest speed you will see in a Souls-like game. Enemies are slow to attack and move, too, and most of them have shields, forcing you to wait for them to attack before you can strike. However, they sometimes take forever to do so. In terms of story and dialogue, it is easily forgettable. I would encourage you to try it out for yourself, but don't expect too much.

dark souls down syndrome edition
This game is just eh. While there are some style choices that are enjoyable. Some of the monsters and bosses looked nice, they sorta resemble the chaos monsters from the Eternal Champion, but they are nothing too crazy. Sadly there wasnt enough enemies that I could say I loved, aside from the boss at the graveyard and the gladiator dude. The level decal, medieval in some areas, supernatural megaliths in the next. But after about 10 or so hours, I wasnt particularly crazy. There is a style choice of not having any range form of dealing damage which I thought did the game wonders. There are also some interactive environmental puzzles which are essentially, using a spell here or running at a wall there. The combat is, not particularly satisfying. Weapon upgrades were okay. Wish there was a bit more scaling to them. You can get a boss item and it be useless by mid game, you cannot upgrade it any further. But this is saved by the runes system, giving some customisability in your weapon la...
A solid take on the genre.

The game soflocks every time I try to interact with npcs or closed chests. A long as I'm unable to fix it, thumbs down obv. Real bummer
Great art design, sound design and decent music. The combat is intentionally slow but could have been great had the balancing of enemy hp and the players weapons made any sense whatsoever. Instead, even with the warrior class, I found myself board to tears by how long long nearly every non boss fight took. The average knight enemy in this game would be a boss in Dark Souls 2. The game also did a terrible job of explaining it's basic mechanics as I was quite confused on even how to level up at first. Combine this with a camera that's actually worse than the first Dark Souls, getting stuck non-stop behind walls to the point of me not being able to see literally anything for minutes at time, and you understand why this game was not well received. Such a shame because I prefer slower more weighty combat to the hack and slash button mashing that is the remake of this game.
Despite the amount of hours I have in this game, I 100% completed every achievement, this is by far the second worst souls-like I have ever played, slightly edging out CODE VEIN for the spot as the worst one.
Positives:
The world is acceptable, not great, but it's passable. It at least fits the theme they were going for. For the most part it plays quite well, but it's incredibly slow. The armor sets for the most parts have really good aesthetic design. The optional portals which you can do after defeating the bosses for more loot are an interesting idea, but it could have been executed better. I actually have nothing more positive to say.
Negatives:
It feels like while things are competently made for the most part, there is just no soul. The difficulty level is a joke, it's a souls-like in design but a 1/10 in difficulty. The story may as well not even be there, the only purpose it serves is to send you places like an errand boy. The only boss that feels co...
Super jank. Could never finish it as it just doesn't feel good to play.
Nice soulslike. Almost as good as the 2023 version. A bit on the easy side.
