About This Game

The 257th Element

SYNOPSIS

In a not-so-distant future, nations invest heavily in scientific research to address food shortages. This leads to the discovery of new elements beyond the 119th. Tokyo scientist Hikojuro Araki creates Araraginium, the 256th element, capable of generating life from nothingness. However, during the inaugural experiment, an unexpected accident scatters Araraginium across Tokyo.

Days later, a strange phenomenon occurs: individuals presumed dead reappear, retaining memories from before their demise. Dubbed Araragi Humans, they emerge from the period between the accident and 72 hours prior.

This story unfolds in Tokyo years later...

>>>Tokipedia

  • Shinsei Shonogamigakuen High School

Futuristic and contemporary, this school boasts a striking design. Its rooftop, enclosed by invisible walls, offers a haven for students during breaks.

  • The Island Where Dreams Come True

Emerging post-Araraginium experiment, this Pacific miracle attracts tourists with its enigmatic beauty. Dense mangrove-like forests paint a surreal backdrop.

  • Cafe CHIENYAROU

A haven for Tokimune and friends, this café brims with retro games, manga, and even a bowling alley. Japanese afternoon tea adds to its charm.

  • Araragi Human

Individuals who perished between the accident and 72 hours preceding the Araraginium experiment. Though they appear as ordinary humans, they vanish instantly if no one observes them. To prevent this, the government employs "Invisible Watcher," discreet surveillance devices installed on most Araragi Humans. Monitored around the clock by the government's Araragi Watcher organization, these devices ensure their continuous visibility, averting their disappearance.

  • “Elements” in this story

When we refer to “elements” here, it's not about atoms. “Element” serves as an abstract concept containing properties. For instance, Araraginium isn't an atom with 256 protons. Elements past the 200th differ greatly from atoms, described by protons and neutrons. Many are comprised of minuscule elements smaller than protons and invisible elements. These are known as Gaia elements. The detailed explanation of Gaia elements is too complex for high school students, so we won't delve into it. However, Hamakado seems to grasp the concept well. If you're curious, we suggest asking her.

I loved this game, the music is the first thing that attracted my attention, because of the variety of it and how each song matches perfectly with the situation in the game, the color pallet is nice and the graphics are beautiful. The main difference I found in this game is that it has a touch of scientific knowledge, because the story is about a new element and how it affects the daily life of the characters, this makes the story more dramatic and profound, getting hooked since the first hour I played. 100% recommended.

Actually for the time beign, I had a great time playing or actually reading this title. Tokimune is a bit a prick for my liking and his love interest Toka, is just a bit dull, in any case, as weebs would say, she is the goat. I just saw that they might integrate some actual and proper voice acting, not that this game desperately needs, but a welcome addition. Any plans to bring this game to iOS or Android? kinda want to put it as a show while im cooking, and speaking of cooking, Yall are cooking, congrats

Feedback for "The 257th Element": Engaging Storyline: The premise of the game is intriguing, blending elements of science fiction, mystery, and fantasy. The idea of creating new elements to solve real-world problems like food scarcity adds depth to the narrative. Rich Worldbuilding: The setting of Tokyo, post-Araraginium experiment, and the emergence of the mysterious island provide a visually stimulating backdrop for players to explore. The inclusion of futuristic designs, such as the invisible walls on the school rooftop and the Japanese-style space in Cafe CHIENYAROU, adds layers to the world. Character Development: The introduction of Araragi Humans adds an element of suspense and raises questions about identity and existence. Exploring the experiences of these characters and their interactions with the protagonist could offer deep storytelling opportunities. Gameplay Mechanics: The inclusion of elements as abstract concepts rather than traditional atoms is an interesting twist...

Good game :). Its humor is funny and it has great art for backgrounds and characters as well. The soundtrack is nice but I feel that it needs a bit of variety on its tracks (sound effects help a lot with this tho). I'll be looking forward for the addition of VAs and probably something new involving the 257th Element :).
