About This Game

Make yourself comfortable, put on your headphones, and get ready to conquer cyberspace! HexaScape: Cyber Defense is an addictive mix of hex grid puzzler and tower defense mechanics, creating a compelling turn-based strategy game.

Board game-like mechanics

If you know the board game classic Carcassonne, you’ll instantly feel at home in HexaScape. Players determine the course of the game by placing hexagon tiles: they explore cyberspace, expand the influence of the cyber core, and build a defense line with towers that can be strengthened and upgraded by power clusters.

As you increase the core’s reach, virus spawners will appear. They spawn viruses and grow stronger with each wave – unless you manage to disable them. Each run feels different: The more you expand into cyberspace, the more abilities the viruses can take on, testing your ability to constantly adapt to new game conditions.

Build unique towers

Cyber towers are your only defence against viruses. Place them wisely, buff them with power fields, upgrade them with new abilities by completing quests, and use skill points to customize them to your needs.

Explore cyberspace

By placing the hex tiles, you explore cyberspace, encountering six different biomes, many different events, and virus bosses hidden on the generator tiles. There’s a campaign with predefined scenarios, an endless mode with procedurally generated maps, maps of the week, and user-generated maps for nearly endless fun!

Create your own maps

Create custom maps for new challenges with the powerful editor! Determine where biomes, event fields, and boss fields are located, and add your own story. Play your maps yourself or share them with the community.

Just played mostly the tutorials and not in love with them. The UI is a bit wonky, the buttons are inconsistently sized and there is some weird choices. The text in the tutorials disappears on it's own after a while and that time isn't indicated anywhere. The audio starts off way too loud. But most of these issues are fixable. The game itself is pretty interesting. It's not unpleasant despite the UI/tutorial issues. Placing tiles feels pretty satisfying and the game rules are rather easy to understand. Definitely looking forward to seeing how that develops through early access and trying some actual maps.

Always loved Carcassonne, so I thought I'd give this a try. The setting and the combination of tower defense and map puzzle are really worthwhile! I'm hooked. :D

Cool little tower defense with a nice twist of building your own map & monster paths

It took me a little bit to get into the game, but once I got through the first couple of levels and realized I had overseen some important aspects, I started really getting into it. It gets addictive pretty quickly once you understand the basics, so pay attention :) Definitely would recommend for tower defense lovers

A game that will really make you think (if you want a competitive score). Really enjoyed the demo and this new EA release just has a lot more bells and whistles. The power and data cluster elements just add those extra elements that take this Tower Defense title to a whole new level. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2647510/HexaScape_Cyber_Defense/# Highly recommended!!

Fun little game, especially considering it's still early access. The gameplay is simple but interesting enough to keep one playing. I didn't like the forceful tutorial, but enjoyed the endless mode quite a lot. I started up the game to just check out how it plays, turned on endless mode and somehow couldn't stop playing. Only stopped when I made a mistake and got my core destroyed. In general, I'm not a bit fan of the whole 'cyber' setting - I see the graphics designers did what they could here to make the visuals look appealing, but I get a feeling a more fantasy-like setting would just be easier and cleaner. A spin-off idea perhaps? All in all a decent game for such a small studio.

A nice game that combines two of my favourite things together: Tower Defense and Cyberspace. This one is quite unique as the player creates their own map and paths for the enemies. There are some random gameplay elements but the game never unfair. Enjoyed it quite a lot!

Hexascape is an innovative strategy game that stands out from traditional tower defense games. Building fields adds new possibilities each time you play, keeping the game dynamic and avoiding the boredom of typical tower defense games. In my opinion, a successful game that has also impressed me with its graphical style and music.
