About the Game

Soulmask is a sandbox game that prioritizes an authentic survival experience. As the "last one" blessed with the mysterious mask, players will grapple for survival in a primitive land steeped in mysterious faiths, carving out a path to ascendance. Start from nothing, explore, build, recruit tribesmen to fortify your clan, and ultimately unravel the mysterious truths hidden behind the civilizations of this world.

Merge Soul and Mask

● Envy an NPC's powerful talent or skill? Make it your own! In Soulmask, synchronize your consciousness with the tribesmen as you recruit them to strengthen your tribe. Possess and take over their bodies and transform into anyone. If you can find them in the game, you can possess them!

● As the game progresses, discover more masks that embody the spirit of ancient heroes. Embody the original appearance of these heroes and their unique abilities: harness the gift of immortality, walk among your enemies concealed in the shadows, fire homing missiles with dead accuracy… Now there are 10 impressive masks for you to discover!

Build a family of talented tribesmen with dynamic personalities.

● Play as a lone wolf without feeling lost or lonely with a multitude of different NPCs. With different personalities and talents, you can recruit bloodthirsty warriors, dexterous hunters, and ingenious craftsmen. . . and even a drunk lazy alcoholic!

● Powerful AI and command support allows you to set up and manage the work flow of clan members with a high degree of freedom: farming, harvesting, assembly line production, base patrol, automatic repair and even maintenance...everything can be automated and customized by you. Even if you're AFK (away from keyboard), your tribesmen will keep working, enabling the tribe to continue growing and thriving.

● Need a light? Smoke a cig or pop open a beer after a busy day. Take a hot bath and soothe those aching muscles. Your tribesmen will always find something of their own to do after work (or even at work -_-). Dance in the cheerful atmosphere of their tribal bonfire dance!

Diverse action combat based on realistic physics

● The game currently provides 8 different styles of weapons and 75 different supporting combat skills and special action modules, each of which strictly restores the experience of real physical characteristics.

● Tailor your fighting style to defeat your opponents: Smash a feline’s skull with a sledgehammer, or attack flying creatures with spears and arrows—even if you’re a fan of the Fist, find your unique style among boxing masters and assassins!

A vast and rich world full of ancient civilizations

● Roam in a vast world including rainforests, rivers, deserts, plateaus, wetlands, volcanoes, and snow mountains, and experience, survive, and challenge the unique climate and creatures in different regions.

● Explore ancient ruins and stunning temples scattered throughout the world that seem to have a mysterious connection with the masks, civilizations, and this world's secret past.

● With more than 500 hours of experience content, whether you are farming, raising pigs to become the richest tribe, or exploring the mysterious ruins of the world in search of the eternal realm, the choice is yours.

Raw and Intense Tribal Warfare: Defend Your Fortress!

● Use your wisdom and imagination to build camp on cliffs or treacherous beaches. Carefully layout your home fortress with various weapons, patrolling defense facilities, and traps.

● While exploring and adventuring outside, always be on guard against waves of hungry, crazed beasts or barbarians from other tribal factions who may seize the opportunity to invade your homeland. Arm your tribesmen and have them patrol... and don't forget to keep a few messenger parrots ready!

● Choose PVP mode to compete with more players on the same map! Observe the weak points of your opponents' bases while pushing the limits of your own fortress design! You'll definitely want to see a horde of fierce attackers trying to storm your doorstep only to fall into the trapdoors and be locked in the dark cells you’ve crafted just for them!

Your gameplay, Your experience

The game currently supports offline single player or online multiplayer of up to 50 players on official servers. You may also establish your own LAN host or private server while inviting others to join. On private, non-official servers, customize numerous parameters to tailor the gaming experience to your own preferences so that you and your friends may explore the rich world of Soulmask at your own pace.

Besides, the game supports the player content creation community - Steam Workshop and provides powerful Soulmask Modkits. Every player can contribute original content and craft their own game world.

I think this game definitely has potential. A few good things first: 1. Decent automation, and the game is fairly enjoyable in its current state 2. Interesting mechanics with collecting tribes people. Kinda feels like a pokemon kinda game where you collect the different tribespeople with varying traits. I only wish they could feel a bit more unique or each have different abilities 3. Lots of skills to level up. Feels a bit like skyrim in a way where every little thing you do has a progression 4. Combat is fun and engaging, and variety of weapon skills make the game feel exciting when you switch things up A few bad I've noticed throughout my playthrough: 1. Pathing is just HORRENDOUS - I get it. You don't want your guys to be teleporting everywhere. But their pathing just sucks so much. The worst offender is the people you assign to mining. They literally get stuck on rocks, stand there for 15 minutes, and do nothing. The game has too many hills, obstacles, trees, random ROCKS, ...

Do not play, In my time on official servers, I keep seeing non-chinese people on pvp servers get banned when the chinese teams are going around with cheat programs. I saw a few players with chinese characters in their name. They were teleporting and moving really fast. I dare not report them because we get banned for reporting any chinese player. Just look in their discord if they havent deleted it all. I left the pvp servers due to them being able to just walk in your base...no thanks. If the developers would not be prejudice, the pvp servers might be viable if the game was better. The game though, not good in general...lots of problems lead to a non-immersive experience. Some of the biggest downfalls are jankyness with combat. Overall, terrible experience. Even worse, using my main character turned out to be completely useless compared to tribesman, which the game did not tell me about. This lead to me wasting days/weeks on leveling it up on official servers. Lag and enemies telepor...

As someone who’s spent 1157 hours in Soulmask, I can confidently say this has been an unforgettable journey — and my first ever survival game at that! The experience has been immersive from the start, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed exploring the deep mechanics and endless content the game offers. The automation system isn’t perfect, but it’s impressive and adds a strategic layer that keeps you engaged. Whether it’s managing tribesmen, crafting, or setting up efficient systems, there's always something to optimize or improve. It’s this constant sense of progress that makes the grind so satisfying. Now that I’ve explored most of what the PvE side has to offer, I’ve started dipping into PvP — enjoying the fights, showing off my perfect and rare barbarians, and taking on new challenges. It’s a fresh and competitive way to keep the game exciting. Huge props to the devs for building such a rich survival world. Looking forward to future updates and polishing, especially ...

The automation is everything we wanted in this type of game. Great game. If you love survivals this is your game. I have no idea how I did not hear about this game till now.

Still think the game is missing the uses of a sacrificial table, example sacrificing a tribal member take one of there traits to give it to an other

This review is based on the pve experience. Combats bad and really jank. Ai is non existant. Lvling is overly complicated and takes way too long. exploration is very dull and a lot of locations are the exact same thing copy and pasted around the map. Automation is what if palworld did everything wrong. absurd amount of workbench bloat. (Did we really need a bench for uncrafting!?!). All bosses are either pushovers or extremely overtuned. Just go play conan exiles. 3/10

global illumination & gloss of surfaces The lighting and reflection of the surfaces are just poison to the eyes. Everything glitters, glows, and reflects light. is it possible to make the lighting softer and more natural? make the surfaces more opaque. reduce reflections. Every stone works like a flashbulb when you run past it. Disgusting realization of lighting and surface reflection effects. Everything glitters, everything glare. There is no way to disable the effects in the graphics settings. and nothing funny. the only game in which the effects were exaggerated. after an hour of playing, it already starts to put pressure on eyes and make sick from the kaleidoscope of flashes and spots, crooked lighting and refraction of light from everything that is possible and unnecessary

I play survival-crafting games exclusively in 2-player co-op, and even though I think Soulmask is fantastic and full of potential, there are certain aspects to it that makes it unsuitable for us. The biggest problem we have with it is that progress in a co-op world (where we are in the same tribe) is not shared. We need to do everything twice, and this is most annoying when it comes to removing the fog of war - every time we need to do it twice, which is tedious since we need the scouts to respawn. Neither are our tribesmen shared, they are each assigned to a different player. Even each part of the building is owned by a different player. It doesn't make for a great multiplayer experience, and I think this needs serious attention if this game wants to be a viable multiplayer game. Since the game is still early access, I hope future updates will remediate this and other issues the game currently still has.

Avoid this game unless you want Tribe managment sim. Several things that made me stop playing this game. - Extremely frustrating and punishing (for no reason) combat. None heal windows on boss fights. I allways take near oneshots from everything. Always play against perfect AI. Constantly getting parried from nps, sometimes 3-4 times from single encounter with one easy opponent. - Useless tribe fighters that you can bring with you. They have stupid AI and take lethal damage from traps. So no helpers in dungeons. - Progression doesn't feel rewarding.

Soulmask is one of the best survival/builder/crafter/explorer/village manager games to come out in the last decade. For early access it feels like a complete game...unlike most early access games it has a complete endgame. Not only do you build bases, villages, forts, etc. but you have a reason to build them! Not only are they for production but you have to defend them as well! But perhaps the best feature of this game is you aren't playing just one character, but your whole village...you can swap to any of your villagers at any time and take them over to go on a mining run, form a squad for exploring to assaulting a barbarian stronghold, or a dungeon, etc. For someone like me, who loves progression...leveling, training, gearing, there are near infinite possibilities to do so across dozens of villagers and bases. It's fully co-op so you can play and build together with friends! It's amazing and I can't wait to see what the developer adds next!
