A very solid game as if from the golden era of the Game Boy but will really come through after some QoL patches. (++) top-notch gameboy title feel on point: visuals, sounds, music, gameplay, story (+) solid rogue-lite gameplay loop (+) fun setting: cleaning haunted establishments (+) casual gameplay done right (++) amazing on Steam Deck (--) game is very difficult to read (and thus to play properly): animations, hit zones, collisions, objects, controls (-) UI issues: In main menu the highlighted items are the hovered-over ones, in other menus it's the other way around. The skip button for dialogues is the same button for 'proceed'. (-) weird design decisions: You cannot choose the items you unlocked, they seem to be appointed to you at random with every run. (-) The difficulty is all over the place: Some runs you cut short after 10 maps because you're bored, others start with an advanced enemy in every corner from map one. (-) a few annoying bugs (but happen often), e.g. get stuck in...

About This Game
Hey. Gil, here. Your average 20-something with few career prospects. Ya know, when I applied for this job at Spotless Services LLC, I thought it would be like any other after-hours cleaning gig. Quiet, simple, gross at times, sure, but at the end of the shift I go home to veg-out and not think about work until my next clock-in.
That was until I discovered the sites I'm cleaning are haunted.
These sites aren't just filthy. They're dustbunnies-hopping-right-at-your-face, filthy. Sometimes I find rotting zombies wandering around. Other times, it's a cruel Dust Witch riding around on a broom throwing fireballs. Heck, even the kitchen appliances are possessed. You ever scrub a toilet that's trying to gnaw off your arm?
At this point, I’m happy to make it out of a shift without losing a limb. And then I spend all my time off anxiously preparing for the next shift, hoping to do just a little better. I guess working for Spotless does have some benefits though…
Clearing out enemies and dirt quickly gets me a better Feedback Report from the clients, and a bonus reward of Silver Sponges from the boss lady, Nat.
Fulfilling Clients' specific requests (or demands) helps even more with the Feedback Report.
Redeeming Silver Sponges for upgrades makes subsequent sites more manageable.
Working multiple sites back-to-back gets me a sweet overtime pay multiplier, at the risk of losing cash due to damages on more difficult sites. Sometimes ya gotta know when to just play it safe and clock out.
If I do a real thorough job, I can find secrets, that can be sold back to clients or other unsavory buyers. I’m not saying it’s ethical, but it provides a much appreciated bump in pay.
Saving up enough cash allows me to purchase permanent upgrades to my cleaning supplies and personal abilities. Managing these is the key to success (and survival!).
Conversations with co-workers in-between shifts sometimes leads to learning tricks and getting surprising benefits as I climb up the company ladder.
It’s a dirty job, but somebody’s gotta do it!

User Reviews
Very charming and entertaining game. Simple gameplay elements are actually rather addictive and have that "one more go" quality. The retro pixel art and music really hits the right vibes imo. There's a bit of jank with the menus and object collision but otherwise it's a fun experience with a lot to unlock. If this were on the classic gameboy when I was a kid it would have kept me busy all night, every night.
