About This Game

Set in the densely cluttered streets of "Kowlong," filled with obscurity and chaos, this battle action-adventure game casts players as the "Hyoki," an entity devoid of memory and physical form. His only motive is to eradicate the monstrous beings known as "Slitterheads" crawling around the city, disguising themselves as humans.

Roaming the vibrant neon-lit cityscape, players must seek out allies among humans known as "Rarities," infiltrate and track dangerous organizations, and engage in battles harnessing the power of blood. As the suspenseful drama unfolds, delve into the mystery behind Hyoki's existence and the appearance of the Slitterheads.

Bodiless "Hyoki" Exposes the Demons Nesting in the Red Light District

The entity called "Hyoki" finds himself wandering amidst the chaos of Kowlong, plagued by the enigmatic monsters known as "Slitterheads" which mimic humans. Though bereft of all memories, he holds one resolute intention: to eradicate every last Slitterhead. Infiltrating the city, he sets out on a mission to hunt down the Slitterheads masquerading within human society.

Possession-based High Speed Action

Devoid of physical form, Hyoki's ability allows him to possess and control human bodies at will, turning the people wandering the city into his pawns. With this power he can slip through barriers, assume the identity of specific individuals, and infiltrate dangerous areas and organizations. By rapidly switching hosts, he can also traverse the city at high speed.

Thrilling Combat Using the Power of Blood

While human bodies are fragile, Hyoki can burn their life force, turning blood into weapons to confront the ferocious Slitterheads. Even when critically wounded, he can continue fighting by switching hosts efficiently. By possessing "Rarities", specific humans who share high sync with Hyoki, he is able to unleash even more powerful attacks and activate various abilities. The cooperative relationship with these "Rarities" holds the key to uncovering the deepening mysteries in the city of Kowlong.

have this on PS5 and now PC. These are the games that need to strive, and leave the goyslop to the ass end of history.

Future cult classic. But here I am, hoping for a sequel and knowing it barely has any chance to happen. Feels like a passion project through and through, a lot of love went into crafting this game. Hard recommend if you're into PS2-era horror and action gaming.

Being a mix of Siren and The 3rd Birthday, Slitterhead's appeal lies precisely in one's abilty to recognize the names of the games I just mentioned and know if combining them sounds like an interesting idea. Despite its flaws, I can't help but support it.

Incredible monster designs, a banger soundtrack and the bodyhopping and sightjacking mechanics are incredibly fun. The story overall has some ups and downs, the later levels of the game try to shake things up a little, but end up becoming a bit tedious. Still giving it a positive review, as the game is unashamedly itself, and not the same slop that AAA studios churn out every year. Very much looking forward to a sequel being announced.

Game is fun and quite short(a bit repetitive). Story is interesting in the beginning but fell off at the end. Overall a dank fun game.

I love this game's premise and the story is intriguing although I'm a sucker for lovecraftian monsters being the protagonist.
Seinen Gaming [Eng and Pt-Br review]
Slitterhead is already a cult classic, in every possible way, both positive and negative. First, I must congratulate the developer and studio for creating such a unique game. I've never seen anything like it, and this applies to several aspects: theme, plot, visuals, gameplay, UI, and OST. At a time when each new game released is so similar that we can barely separate one from the other in our minds, Slitterhead innovates, and anyone who has played it will remember this game forever. Starting with the plot, it's incredible! The best way to describe it is that it resembles a mix of bizarre seinen manga plots, a mix of Gantz, Ajin, To Your Eternity, and Parasyte. The theme is incredible and immediately compels the player to think and wait for what will happen next. However, I must say that the game falls short several times. Its plot has its ups and downs, alternating between good and bad moments, often stretching some parts too far or wasti...

Slitterhead is a game I ignored due to its poor initial reception, one of budget woes and misplaced expectations. However, thanks to the Goth Gaming Nation my curiosity was piqued, and I'm glad I got to experience this game. More sci-fi action hack-n-slash than slow psychological horror expected from the creators. The combat is a huge sticking point for most people. And while it's not as complex as Devil May Cry or sharp as Sekrio I still found it to be pretty fun. A lot of that comes from the possession powers central to really every aspect of this game. Attacks might send you flying or deal absurd damage but its easy to flick to another character and focus aggression on some poor civilian before changing back to one of your two leads, healing up, and laying on the hurt. I do wish you main characters (rarities) were more distinct, had unique combos or more active skills. A lack of enemy variety is a even more pressing issue with the game, but I was never so frustrated by the combat ...

Absolutely terrible. Awful weightless combat, copy pasted bosses, boring linear levels, hideous graphics; the monster designs are alright but that's about the only positive thing I can say about this.
