A brutal yet brilliant and unforgettable journey into madness. Not for the faint of heart, you will bleed ,break, suffer and falter to the horrors or merely one misstep. But every victory feels beyond exhilaration when you overcome and survive adversity. The atmosphere, Gothic art, suspense filled music and a brilliant narrator will have you hooked. In a nutshell it's a "base management" (for my lack of better terms) Roster and hero management, and a turn based combat game with the following aspects Deep tactical combat Unique Stress and affliction system that ads to the psychological management of your heroes Meaningful risk-reward decisions in and out of combat Diverse Hero classes with unique playstyles and skill synergies Long term investment campaign Replayability Some RNG can feel unlucky, it's part of the game and to be fair, RNG can feel very rewarding too. I think that it is a fair system in it's full glory or despair. I personally find it fun and challenging in that sen...
Anger is power - unleash it! Many fall in the face of chaos, but not this one. Not today. A moment of clarity in the eye of the storm.. Adversity can foster hope, and resilience.. A moment of valor shines brightest against a backdrop of despair.
Just way too extremely luck based. It would drive me mad when ever I'd be having a great run and I'd somehow miss every turn then they'd hit 3/4 crits on one of my heroes leading to them dying and the next turn ends the exact same. To mention this isn't against enemies who have an insane dodge but brawlers who have a dodge of 0. I really did enjoy this game and even had a prior positive review of this game but this game is meant to be dreadful at times but if I can't have fun because of constant bullshit luck I can't really enjoy this game.
Returned to this after playing other similar games. There are lots of things I don't like about this game (concept is good) but overall it's boring and repetitive and no, the RNG does not stop it from being repetitive if anything it forces you to grind the repetitive stuff again should you get unlucky and lose some stuff. Bosses aren't great, RNG is annoying cause it just says "go back and regrind(insert what you lost)" assuming you got unlucky sometimes you don't but that more rare than not, it's a nothing burger with the only cost being time and patience. Difficult is not what I would call it either just boring, I assume most people who did not finish the game did so not because of difficulty but because they saw the game loop and the repetitive nature and uninstalled considering it an unfun waste of time, might be a stretch but I would like to see a poll amongst those who didn't finish. TLDR; There are other games that do everything this game does but far better in almost eve...
TLDR: the game is great but only if your willing to get bent over backwards and ruthlessly punished I have such mixed opinions on this game, on one hand its super fun when the game plays ball and when the RNG goes your way genuinly amazing, but to get that you have to suffer so much. there are some outright stupid mechanics that completely ruin the game for me. the one that completely ruins the game for me is, if your character is too high level they cant compete in low level missions. which sounds fine on paper level everyone equally but considering the fact that you at the start only get 1 - 2 charecter per mission means that certain party memebers will eventaully level too high so you cant use them making them virtually useless until 4 charecters are the same level, or you rock a team A and just use the same 4 to level them equally. which ever way you did it you bring your high level team into a mission and its bound to happen but one will die its the nature of the game, when tha...
Fun combat, good vibes, pretty art. It's a great time if you like turn-based combat and like a challenge.
Love the spooky Gothic Lovecraft vibes while its a super chill game I can relax to. At your own pace and challenging. Reminds me of broken down D&D game with the level of "tough love" of Dark Souls. Recommend to anyone who wants a challenge without the stress of timing and "skill" requirements. The story is also really awesome and can not wait to dig more into it as I progress.
Not a bad game, but not going to lie, I am not having fun. You need to invest time in learning mechanics and strategies just to survive. While it is probably what the target niche is looking for in this game, for me it is too tedious to be enjoyable. Many other games are way more fan with less of the effort.
As title suggests, this game has a Darkest Dungeon you get to explore, unlike part 2, where they just forgot about that crucial part of the game. But that's ok, we all forget about small things, its only the place that gives the name to the entire game, no biggie to forget about it : ))
