FLEX Disc Golf

[h3] To recommend or not to recommend, that is the question. [/h3] As the title indicates, this review could very well be negative. I tried the demo and almost didn't buy it. I mean, the game itself, if you don't know, is golf but with a frisbee. You have to hit it into a basket, while the trees and their branches are a pain in the ass. That said, I'll start with what I liked about FLEX Disc Golf: First, the graphics. They look good, with nice lighting, and I get the feeling that if you threw a deer in, it would turn into a hunting game at any moment. At the same time, it is relaxing. It comes with chill music, but I prefer playing something in the background. The gameplay is pretty good, with physics that even behave realistically on tree branches. There is no multiplayer, it is on the roadmap, but it does have online leaderboards. Now onto the really bad. It is a bug-fest. Frisbees you buy disappear, though they are cheap anyway. Game is not complete yet. After playing for about 12 minutes I fell through the floor and had to alt-f4. After reopening the game the same thing occurred after the first throw off the teebox. Mechanics are fun but the game definitely needs some stability updates.

The game certainly needs a lot of work! The UI is awful—barely readable in the main menu, making it difficult to even see what the options are. Then there's the gameplay. Oh boy. The aiming line is absolutely terrible. The game doesn’t explain what the "throw meters" do—one seems to be for distance, and the other for power (?). There’s no real sense of how far or high your throw will go. No indication, no feedback—nothing. You’re left guessing, hoping to magically hit the meters perfectly by pure luck. Worse, I get different results in my throws even when using the same disc with the same distance and power. It makes no sense. Then there's the backhand/forehand issue. Characters automatically go for a backhand even when you choose a forehand. The maps are a mess—too many trees. And speaking of trees, the disc will hit every single one because the hitboxes are massive. Even when it looks like you're nowhere near a tree, there's a high chance you'll bounce off it or ge...

This is a fun game, I personally preferred the older method of throwing, the game is still a fun way to relax and I'm sure if I tried the new throwing more I'd enjoy it more.

Good idea with a lot of potential. After a day of playing disc it's good to come home and play some more disc! Has some bugs, but that's to be expected of an early access game. Given time I have no doubt this game will keep getting better and better. Just had an update recently, so developer is clearly putting in the time to refine the game. Looking forward to a 4 player coop mode!

Flex Disc Golf is a great game to jump in for a quick round of solo DG. The graphics are great and improving with updates. The disc flights don't seem to reflect what you'd expect from certain molds available. And mostly, I wish this was available as a multiplayer game. Otherwise it's a great work in progress.

I like this game very much. I like actually traversing the courses and I like that you can buy real world discs. Please, please, please add a forehand throw. Tomahawk, roller, etc... that's all gravy, but please add a forehand option. Giving us the option of a forehand shot makes this the best disc golf game available really bar none.
