Above the Hill

I played the demo of this game before it was released and I enjoyed the little jump scares for what was even just in a demo. I was excited to play the full game but quit 45 minutes in. Unfortunately, the full game feels so slow-paced. Most of the time I was wandering around at a snail pace trying to figure out what I was even doing or where I was supposed to go. While there was still plenty of jump scares that genuinely scared me, there was not as many as I would have hoped for the boring tasks you are given like lighting candles. Ultimately I quit the game because I realized that I could die from the guy that tries to find you when you try to get into the attic and it was no fun because you walk too slow in the game and the house is quite confusing.

a student made this so it is a 1st time full game project it seems. for $3 it wasn't bad for short game but longer if you replay to get all the endings. there are some issues, don't expect much in graphics but for a student? good job. those doors need some work though, in chase scenes they don't always open the first time. and the enemy can glitch right into you. also when using interact even when you see E you still need to be in just the right spot for it to work.

I decided to give this game a shot, I love indie horror games and showcased this on my twitch channel. My viewers liked it. The story was compelling, the atmosphere was different and it wasn't a copy and paste of Death Chord III books or the same layout of a house. It was all unique in its own way. The jumpscares got me, and I love how there were multiple endings, my viewers wanted to see them all. The game bugged out towards the end and I did have to start over, adding checkpoints would be a nice feature. The entities were a little difficult to dip, duck and dodge but my viewers game me excellent tactics to succeed. I was able to achieve two endings, and I am looking forward to going back and getting the third. This game has so much potential, and I hope this dev keeps pushing games out. Overall, it felt like watching a classic horror movie. Elements such as a well-structured story and jump scares were enough to enhance the sense of immersion in the game. And the scene after the final ending makes me think a lot. I had fun playing the game, and I recommend playing it for yourself if you get the chance. https://youtu.be/LweRdR15zUY
