This game is a masterpiece of its kind. The ingeniously written dialogue, voice acting, soundtrack, great character, and beautiful athmosphere all make this one of the best RPGs ever made--alongside the likes of Fallout: New Vegas, Deus Ex, and Morrowind. A cult classic, no doubt. The 2000s and their edginess are the soul of this game; nothing like it could be made nowadays. For that fact alone, I feel the sequel will be highly disappointing, especally given all the news surrounding it. It's sad to think nothing like it will ever be made again, but I'm still happy that this game at least came out, existed, and became a classic.

Great atmosphere, great soundtrack. Gritty, dark and vile. I am no longer here
It is janky, outright broken, and has a final act that turns to dust faster than the protagonist in sunlight. It’s also my favorite game ever made. The writing and atmosphere are generally that good and rewards actual role playing with your choices (especially regarding the clan you chose) in a way most RPGs can only dream of. Depending on your vampire choice, there are effectively three different games in one, all of which provide a fantastic role playing experience. If you play with the unofficial patch…actually I should say WHEN you play with the unofficial patch, there’s even another campaign option available on top of smoothing over some of the rough edges that this deeply talented team didn’t get the chance to fix. There isn’t another game like this, and any RPG fan owes it to themselves to try it once.
This game is like if Hot topic cashier from 2004 got a budget to make a game and was secretly a political activist
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is a cult classic that has earned its reputation as one of the most ambitious and atmospheric RPGs ever made, despite a troubled development and a notoriously buggy release. Developed by Troika Games and released in 2004, the game adapts White Wolf’s Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop RPG into a dark, immersive, and narratively rich experience that continues to resonate with fans decades later. It offers a unique blend of first-person and third-person gameplay, deep character customization, multiple story paths, and an unforgettable cast of characters—all set against the backdrop of a twisted, nocturnal version of Los Angeles ruled by vampire politics and ancient conspiracies. From the opening cinematic, Bloodlines pulls you into a world of shadow and secrecy, where vampires coexist with humans under the veil of the Masquerade—a code that ensures their existence remains hidden. You begin the game by creating a character from one of seven clan...
They don't make games like this anymore and is an absolute gem. Yes, you need to apply the external patch...so what, its an old game that proves it was loved and still is to be maintained. What you'll find is the best mix of roleplay, voice acting, story and splitering storylines that modern writers/developers just can't do. This is when white wolf was in its prime, had a great series(World of Darkness) and before it got ruined into the poo show that is modern WoD. Play in this dark, gritty and offensive game...and walk away with a smile.
wont run on new hardware without external patch. 0/10
Buy this, mod it, and enjoy. Don't waste your money on the "sequel". The vampire roleplaying experience you need and want is right here.
Incredible game that puts some modern action RPG'S to shame. Amazing atmosphere, compelling world and dialogue, funny satire, and decisions with purpose. I feel ignorant for not playing it sooner Also you can bhop, and if you run diagonally into a wall, you will get a speed boost. People say the action heavy 3rd act is the weakest, and that may be true, but I played through it like I was Gordon Freeman. I also kinda fw the melee system. I mean its basic and janky, but I like how positioning and timing play a role. The modding scene is underrated. I wish the source code would leak online for the greater good. There's still an SDK with the Unofficial Patch, so that's cool.
