Game crashed lost all progress.. and let's be honest that's not a game you want to play twice. Really hard to believe this is the same author as the "lost heir" trilogy. There is no choice at all... game is very linear, forcing you to go through endless options to reallocate citizens. It's a chore and i wonder how i spent 5 hours on it... Thought it would get better sometime, it never does... The management option is barebone, just acquiring new type of ressources and citizens. Combat is just pointless whoever got bigger number wins, no strategy at all. (i insist no choice in combat, just wave 1, wave 2, wave 3 ... auto calculate death on each side based on your army comp and level) Quest are nonexistent and linear, send your king, companion and troop to someplace, do some combat along the way, rinse and repeat. Companions, no dialog whatsoever ... just bring bonus number to your army level. No romance or marriage or any lineage... At some point, after grinding some level...

Daria: A Kingdom Simulator is an epic 125,000-word interactive fantasy novel by Mike Walter, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
Your kingdom doesn't exist in isolation. You’ll navigate a dynamic world with rival kingdoms, diplomatic intricacies, and the ever-present possibility of warfare or subjugation as you strive to craft a lasting legacy. The heart of the game lies in its complex yet accessible battle system.
- Play as male, female, or nonbinary.
- Return to the Lucidverse and be a part of the history of Daria.
- Play in Easy, Normal, or Hard modes, where each difficulty affects many aspects of play.
- Make use of a fully-functioning encyclopedia of game concepts to aid you.
- Enjoy an endless arena-style, tournament mode for you and your heroes to train in battle.
- Specialize as a virtuous or malevolent cleric, a formidable fighter, or a spell-casting wizard.
- Create noble offices, embark on grand building projects, and manage your subjects to help your nation grow.
- Use battle strategy and troop composition to defeat other nations—or negotiate with them using your diplomatic skills.
- Equip your ruler with the most recently acquired weapons and armor.

Each time the game updates, you lose all progress. It has happened to me at least twice in a row and the game released yesterday. The game is bugged as hell: you cannot smelt bronze and therefore you can't create bronze tools. Also, I do like this genre, and don't mind a little bit of simulationism, and resource management. But this is supposed to have storytelling. It does not, it has only small bits of storytelling. The game is addicting but boring at the same time. I do not recommend this game to anyone. There are better alternatives elsewhere. Do not buy.
This game is a chore. Choice script is not suitable for what they were planning to do and even if it were, this game can only be considered an idle clicker with very lackluster automation. Also, your entire army is deleted when you go through a plot event for some reason. Don't. 1/10
Utterly terrible balancing (multiple times I'd get a repair event for buildings I'd just built, so I'd lose multiple turns of progress because I'd just spent all my pottery), the idea is nice but the UI is absolutely useless. It requires fifteen clicks for something I should be able to see at once. Why do I need to go back to the main menu to see my resources? Why do I have to click through five menus to hire a miner? Again, nice idea, shite execution, at least for now.
While I enjoy this game, I can understand why others don't. It is essentially a city builder/kingdom builder game using the Choice script. It's a lot of slow work and micromanaging and things aren't really explained to you. Fans of Choice games and fans of this author expect RPGs and this game heavily diverges from that. Individual choices don't really matter. It's all about the city building here. So if you look at this game, do know that it is serious when it says a kingdom simulator. It isn't an RPG or a normal CYOA.
Really boring
Do not buy this game right now. It's updating very often, and each time it does all progress is lost. Maybe I'll be able to recommend it when it's actually finished, but right now it is not.
There is not enough information about the game mechanics and when you look it up you get sometimes incorrect information. The game is forced Ironman and will make you restart endlessly if you get spawn killed by a random event or something doesn't go as you logically assumed. The demo is far too short and ends way before you understand all the problems. After two hours with the full version, you might still think it only has a few hard edges and won't return it. During my play time I became a much more toxic person and I regret my purchase much more than I normally regret a normal bad purchase.
I had high hopes at first about the game. I really enjoyed the early and mid game, setting up an economy and dealing with other factions etc The late-game gave me RSI though so I can't recommend the game (I was playing on Normal Difficulty). I had a functional economy and was steamrolling most enemies, then the enemies got really strong. Building up your military is a massive pain in the ass because to build it you obviously need more people and there's no way to send out multiple people recruiting without clicking at least 2 times per person you send out. If there was a way to type in the number of people I want to send out recruiting then it would have been fine but there isn't so it just becomes a massive boring grind that's not fun at all.
I really enjoyed all of Mike Walter's other games (now learning they are all part of a larger universe, which is pretty cool). This one is very much a kingdom simulator as the name suggests, with a lot of city building, management, recruiting and assigning units. etc. I found it enjoyable (but I like that sort of thing). If you buy this, just know that it does have a neat storyline that is told through events that pop up as your kingdom grows and so on, but it is not comparable to most other CYOA choicescript games you might have encountered, as the gameplay/management is the bulk of the game. If you want more of an RPG/CYOA setup, checkout the author's other games, as they're all quite good. If you think you would like a simulator game or just want to support the author, check this one out. I think the work that went into this could easily translate into another game in the future, providing some really interesting gameplay options to go with a more robust story. Other review...
