About the Game
Set in the universe of Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones, the game lets players witness and influence the events preceding the Black Day. Immerse yourself in a unique world full of dangers, unexplored dark corners, and looming evil beyond mortal comprehension.
Accompany an old friend on her voyage to the foggy settlement of Kingsport to uncover the town's dark secrets and find your missing father. You survive a shipwreck, but soon realize that it was just a prelude to the nightmare that awaits. Using your strength and wits, guided by your friend's knowledge of the occult, can you prevent the coming of the Outer Gods? Or is the descent into madness inevitable?
Forbidden harbor
Explore the dark streets of the forgotten settlement of Kingsport, inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Check its hidden corners and unlock access to new areas. Find its secrets, solve puzzles, open new paths, and unlock closed doors. Many locations await you: an old village, a mysterious mansion, dark mines, cemeteries, foggy forests, and, of course, an old lighthouse.
Survive the horror
You will be in constant jeopardy, rarely escaping from monstrous enemies and devious traps unscathed. Physical harm is far from the gravest danger, however, as all these perils will take a toll on your psyche, and your mind may be hurt as well. Any mental afflictions you develop will impact your gameplay experience. Stay on the lookout for materials and recipes and craft the tools, medicines, and remedies necessary to face the horrors around you.
Roleplaying mechanics
Choose your play style - unlock new abilities, find eldritch artifacts, and experiment with different ways to interact with the environment. You will always have choices and multiple paths to progress the story, but be prepared to face their consequences.
Impending doom
Player choices influence events unfolding in the game world, leading to various endings. Any wrong word or action may have irreversible consequences. The world reacts to how you develop your character, the denizens and hazards may react differently depending on your madness and chosen playstyle.
Stygian Legacy
Stygian: Outer Gods takes place in the original Stygian universe, therefore certain events in this game may provide a fresh perspective on events and characters from the Reign of the Old Ones.

Couldn't put it down. While it's an early access title, there is a lot of potential here. +Incredible visuals. Unreal Engine definitely flexes it's muscles here. The village of Kingsport is desolate, dreary and oozing with Lovecraft inspiration. +Sound design is great so far. Some voice acting is included. Great ambience. +The occult deck and how you spec your character for a variety of traits: Lifting heavy things, speaking to the dead, lockpicking, combat. etc etc +Crafting works quite well so far. +Level design was fantastic, lots of shortcuts and side content to explore, hidden items to find. Now for some negatives. -Combat is gonna be hit or miss for some people. Earlier enemies are pretty easy to figure out. But later on, either tedium or frustration sets in. This could change if you play a full melee build I suppose. -Performance. This is still in early access and will most likely be tweaked. But from my playthrough on a 7900 GRE and a 9800x3D, 32GB of RAM. Epic ...
It is a great Lovecraftian game. The combat is really poorly done. Needs some work. The rest of the game, the story, the puzzles, and the exploration are great. Very immersive setting. Combat is what brings this title from a 9 to a 7. Enemies can hit you through walls, the stamina system is rough. They are improving it with each update. I would say if you are a Lovecraft universe fan, get this game.
Great potential with very talented developers. They just do not know when enough Bull is enough. The list is their idea of fun. 1. Problematic save game utility. 2. Items are very sparse with very poor carry weight. 3. Many enemies are tanks that can almost one shot you.. 4. No access to many chests you have to leave behind. 5. Insanity ramps up so fast, no time to look around and get out. 6. The flooded town water freezes you and kills way to fast. 7. My observations are from a game set to easy. I quit the game at the flooded town point but I enjoyed the game up to that dead end, just to much bull for me. Buy this game and help the very talented developers.
Great game. Story is above above average for the genre, the way they do skills is fun and this is the first game I've seen with an automated video configure thing that configures it to your PCs baseline handling. I've only gotten a bit into it becuase its a bit janky, albeit due to it being early access, but I'm exited for it to get worked on a bit more and come out.
The game is intriguing. I both like and dislike playing it. While there are many things to like, there are many things to dislike. So far my biggest gripe is with the combat. It's not difficult. But it's unnecessarily frustrating. Melee weapons have an EXTREMELY short and visually deceptive range regardless of which you use so the most effective method is to quite literally kiss every enemy as you swing and make sure you keep them in your cross-hairs or you will miss even with a sledgehammer. Enemies have a longer ranger than their attacks portray so you will take damage in situations where you can basically see them swing or bite at the air in front of you. Stamina is more of a nuisance because enemies are significantly more resilient compared to you (the first enemy can kill you by biting your leg 3 times). Every attack drains stamina. If you run out of stamina you can't attack, block, or run and you will move slower until you recover. Just about every enemy kills you in 2-3...
Damn, for an early access game, let's just say that it's pretty darn polished. It's so much fun to finally have an immersive sim based on a Lovecraft setting. The game envelops you in an unsettling darkness that sucks you in. I do have some quality of life recommendations for the developpers that would make a nice addition: -allowing to backtrack on different saves to explore different choices. -more wires! They are so difficult to come by T_T -some sort of armory in the storage locker because unlocking weapons also takes up all your inventory space -making sure that when you reach "the end" (of where the story is currently at) having the possibility to come back and explore some more and tie loose ends instead of starting over on a new save. That being said, newcomers; the game in it's current state is already well worth EVERY PENNY at the current price. I'll now proceed to spend my remaining sanity counting seconds until we get he next update. Cthulhu Ftang!
I must say I really like this game, I love the mechanics where you are not that strong and ammo is rare. I like the dialogue, story, characters *they are well done for a lower budget game*. The setting and map is really good. It reminds me of RE the village but mixed with hunt showdown. I really like how there is a perk to talk to the dead in the game, really changes how you see what is going on in the village. I was a little disappointed there seemed to be no point in helping the souls move on doing their quests for them or fetching items for them. Also the combat seems kind of wonky and the hit distances seem way off. Other than that this game is really good especially for a early access lower priced game.
Gameplay is stiff, not a shocker considering the Ungood engine. The combat is terrible the sound design needs work, the story was shaping up to be kinda interesting but when writing tries so hard to be cryptic to the point of basically word salad that means nothing on occasion and only serves to confuse, you can only tell such a story before losing the player and after that all you have is the horrible gameplay. A different engine, better combat and an artstyle that is nice to look at and simple to run would make it alright. The game just sucks and it's easily a 5-10 dollar product.
