I tried it for 118 minutes... It's bland, not historical by a huge margin; I don't care much about the technological disparity, they added mech for steampunk. I don't even care that you can choose your gender. But play as either "Cesar Bonaparte" or "Cesarina Bonaparte" in a proto conflict where political tension seems to start rising with ... the fall of the Bastille (which is national day in France as a symbol of the first successful blow against the king) which is also the start of the game. Said Bastille was mainly a prison and the assault was made following another mass arrest (starvation was a huge problem and the king though fit to feed people led, hard to say what option he had at the time tbh). But here they attack Bastille in order to ... get equipment (I mean they just butchered a whole garrison to get in, but they whine about not finding... weapons ?). That's the start of the game, and following that, the game want you to conquer territory fighting unalligned rebels (why n...

I love the premise and the ideas but as of right now they are so badly implemented that I can't recommend it. The National Convention is a cool idea except there's no point engaging with it because all the laws are basically useless by Turn 5 and all the other political parties get kicked out of it by story events so there's no reason to interact with it. Adding mechs to the combat is a cool idea except they make basically every other unit redundant and since units don't seem to cost any upkeep you can fairly quickly build an army mostly consisting of mechs. Additionally the story battles are laughably easy because the enemy obligingly splits its forces into little chunks for you to destroy one by one so there's no sense of challenge. I know it's early access so maybe it'll get better but as of right now DO NOT BUY
