About This Game

Sadness and darkness spreads like an illness.
It plagues the innocent, damages the weak.
Creates unsafe places in your mind.
Do not explore them for too long.

Sorrow Asylum 2 is a looping horror game, a mix of an abandoned asylum and your mind's prison. The longer you stay, the deeper you sink.
Explore the asylum of sadness, where time stops, unless you progress by taking the calendar pages into your room down in the basement of the asylum. The longer you stay in this place, the more horrors will try and stop you, fix you, change you, the more the whole place gets affected by your presence.

You'll meet the creatures of such a place: Plague Doctor, a surreal creature Dalu and Lara, who shows up as a little girl this time.

The Plague Doctor may try to treat you, but he also does it painfully or simply stopping you from making the time move and damaging you in the process.
Your asylum neighbor in the other room is a little girl Lara, who's story about abuse and loneliness you'll get to experience in this 2nd game a lot more.
A new creature Dalu shows up, and he's fascinated with illness, with diseased patients, the creepy head monster brings an unsettling addition to the asylum with his eyes always following you.

The game has 15 day cycles to offer, where the asylum gets progressively more and more sinister and dangerous. The player has the options to run and hide, but often needs to simply confront the unknown and keep learning the story of this place and its citizens.

The evil can be locked up.
Prison. Grotto. Asylum.
These unsafe places will manifest through you.
Do not explore them for too long.

https://youtu.be/69dfIyJ2EyM It's Sorrow Asylum 1 just redder, better voice acting, darker atmosphere/tone, and more cryptic story as to why you're there. I like a good slow burn, but it retread everything from the first to the point I nodded off a few times. There was a small quirky charm to the first this clearly rushed rehash sorely lacks. Cannot suggest this one at all.

Truely a scary experience! Use of sound with headphones was very effective. Seems like it was good not to have played the first part.

The big purple head reminds me of Ao Oni. It was fun! https://youtu.be/N27Bmi-wzVc

I really like how Vidas is never afraid to make his games even more surreal than usual. What I realized again while playing this, is that most of his games manage to convey a sort of subliminal, otherworldy logic, even if the story doesn't follow the logic of the real world. The perfect instance of this is martyrdom and both parts of Sorrow Asylum are very good in this regard as well. You brought the doctor here. No more patients on day 15. Imma be honest, I did not understand all of this. I have multiple interpretations right now and I look forward to revisiting for further analysis, but for now, I'll just say that I loved the depressing depiction of the asylum and Laras heart wrenching story with an optimistic ending. I would say "more like this please", but I have a feeling that Vidas does what he wants anyway and that is honestly fantastic. I'm always looking forward to new games.

The chase music wasn't as loud this time around lol. We did get to here more backstory on Lara this time and the Giant head around the corners made me jump a few times lol. https://youtu.be/KLaIIW5isDA
