Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition

If you're planning to 100% this game/ get all the achievements in this game, they broke it a year ago and haven't fixed so don't buy it. might update this if they ever fix it

Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition launched without Steam achievements, despite being available via Ubisoft Connect, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S. Then, in mid-2024, Ubisoft patched the Steam version to have Steam achievements, and all was well. Then, inexplicably just weeks/months after patching the game, Steam achievements stopped working. It's been a year now and these achievements continue not to work with no promise of a patch. Bottom line: Don't buy this.

Until they fix the achievements I can't recommend this game.

This game is a masterpiece but ubisoft decided to just break the achievements on steam and never fixed it , so if eventually they fix it , i will change my review

Never played this game before but it's really great and better with 60 fps. Unfortunately, Ubisoft sucks so you won't get any achievements on steam lmao

game still good crashes every hour or so, ubisoft still terrible and forces their garbage software

I was having a blast til I ran into the soft lock on the very last level and cant even move forward only to find out this been an issue for a long time and still no fixes for it, other then that I enjoy the new content they added

Only bought it because two reasons: 1) It was on discount and convenient to run the game with one click. 2) They purposely made the original which I also have in my library, unplayable. With that being said. Game plays nicely, it is convenient, still an underrated gem that it is. What is unacceptable is the fact that they did absolutely NOTHING when it comes to upgrading games capabilities. 2 pics of personal picture space in the camera, close to no settings, graphics looks identical, no improvement to core mechanics or steering. So, a typical cash grab, plus the requirement to use external launcher. Eat $hit Ubisoft. Clearly that's all you care about.

Played this on my OG Xbox back in 2004 - one of the best memories I had of that era with this game and of course I remembered it being so much grander and larger from my baby memory. But despite that, this game still has kept so much wonderful charm and character with its cast and world it brings to the table. The fact that also in the Anniversary Edition the developers also brought in some extra lore to help flesh out Jade's backstory to be more in line with the new sequel that may one day actually come out. Onto the bad though; because it was one of those games from that era, the camera is your worst enemy at times and movement can be absolutely ABYSMAL. Things can feel quite sluggish and if you are in tight areas where the camera is locked to a specific angle (which there are a few of), it can take away any ability for you to see.
