Don't be fooled by the somewhat simplistic graphics, this game is really fun! A full-size story shooter with very good gunplay that rivals much bigger productions. My only gripe so far is that there don't seem a lot of checkpoints, but that can easily be balanced out by playing on easy difficulty. Or if you're a better player than me, by not dying ;D And if you like 80s/90s action movies, you will definitely like the jokes & humour in the game!
An Amazing VR Adventure
10/10 - worth every penny This game has so much to offer! After the first few hours into it I can say: Cactus has done it again! As it's predecessors, Cactus Cowboy - Desert Warfare is packed with a simple but good story line, funny characters and a lot of humorous details. Be prepared to work your way through loads of creeping bugs with a firm smirk on your face! :) All that comes with top of the line VR-FPS weapon handling. You can 100% tell, that the head behind the Cactus-Series is an FPS gamer himself (if you're lucky you might meet him in a game of Pavlov once in a while - and if he's not working on the next Cactus game). Don't let the simple graphics put you off, this is some A-grade shooter you're looking at. Have fun!

I can only recommend this because of how few good VR games there are. After playing though It I can see a few flaws. First off the 7 hour campaign only lasted 4 hours. Then I realized there's no shotguns in the game. That doesn't sound like an issue but in cactus cowboy 3 we had pump shotguns and automatic shotguns, then in cactus world at war we had a double barrel sawn off that was fun to use, and now we have none. we went from 2 shotguns to 1 to nothing. and cactus 3 had new game plus, more weapon varriety, and level select. This game has lots of unskipable cutscenes. Many things were improved with this game in respects to level design, boss fights, the weapons feel good and it's a solid 4 hours of gameplay so I can still recommend it. But I can't shake the feeling that the series peaked in cactus cowboy 3 and this is just a 15$ level pack. The rifles, SMGs, and pistols might be different from the other games but you use a rife the same way in all 3 games so the only thing that ch...

Don't be fooled by the graphics. Gameplay is very nice, some parts are challenging and story is stupidly fun.

This game is one of my favorite vr games. I has some really good weapon handling and weapons in general. The story is goofy and funny, plus has some great references. The enemies are also really good and loved each one. This game is worth the 15 bucks honestly. Just wished there was more to do after the campeign than just collect more money and 100% it but there really is no reward for those.

 I saw a twitter post from the dev saying the graphics are shit and he's right. anyways the gameplay is spot on, especially the guns, coherent story and lots to shoot at. Really wanna know how it ends. Played with Quest 2 and worth every penny!

After playing the free cactus cowboy game and enjoying it much more than any other free vr games (and some paid games as well) I decided to buy shortly after launch. After ~3 hours of game play, the new cactus cowboy game offers everything the original did plus more. The game offers additional upgrades, weapons and enemies, continues the story (which is not great but does keep you interested while playing), and also can be pretty challenging at some parts. I have encountered some issues where the gun angle seems to be off using my reverb G2 (the gun angle is extremely high) but only an issue with 1 handed weapons (most are 2 handed and the issue is not a big deal when using both hands). Using the quest 2 with openxr does not have this issue at all. Overall, highly recommended and hope to see more from this dev in the form of more cactus cowboy games or other genres.

Is Cactus Cowboy - Desert Warfare a good game? Yes. The developer is getting better and better. I did Cactus 3 Fully Loaded and Plants At War. And they were all fun, I had a good time. The solo developer is gettting better and better. The additional free missions were a nice addition. BUT cause there's a but, where's the shotguns? When you do an fps you need shotguns. Where's the rocket launcher? We only have a grenade launcher. And even the enemies and our Cacti allies use rocket launchers. Where's the grenades from Plants at War? It could have been the best Cacti game but it isn't because of that. I got it on sale and I had a blast though. I know Plants At War is supposed to be World At War and Desert Warfare is Modern Warfare. And they do that really well, the characters and all. But I kinda miss the sense of adventure from Cactus 3 Fully Loaded. And the platform sections and crazy bosses. And also the gameplay was more like Serious Sam. But that's me. But please next time shotgun p...
