Midnight Monitor: Anomaly Watch

Leaving this review is difficult. I wasn't sure if I wanted to leave a negative or positive review. Ultimately, I realize I enjoy playing the game and at the price tag, it's fairly worth it. Even more so if bought on sale. If you enjoy games like this and Observation Duty, this is a nice one to have in your library. It's enjoyable, though there are a few things wrong with the game that I feel I have to add. For starters, I'd like to know what the devs were thinking when they came up with the steam achievements. Majority of them center around playing a single map for many hours. With only two maps to pick from, the burn out is real. Second, with dark mode enabled it's absolutely impossible to see some of the anomalies. This should be fixed. If it was intended, it's unfair and ridiculous. I don't want to GUESS that something might be there. Several typos through out the game. Small, but annoying. Confusing anomalies. I've spent way too much time trying to figure out what...

They created Steam achievements for content that is not even released yet. This is such a terrible thing for developers to do. Toggle them to hidden until the actual content is actually released. They have been implemented for 5 months and no content to go with it. Overall decent game, but its asking for way too many playthroughs on each level for some of the achievments. They ask you to beat the game 25 times on hard mode on each level. They are asking for too much time to be invested for what the game is.. This makes the game feel longer but there are not enough unique anomalies to warrant 25 playthroughs on hard mode, especially if you've already seen most of them on your first 10 playthroughs on normal mode. They start to repeat and its boring to sit there and click the same things while waiting. Fun yes, for a few hours per level, but that's about where the fun ends. I do not wish to play every level for 20+ hours each to see the same stuff.

I am a fan of anomaly games and I had already completed and enjoyed Midnight Monitor: Aldercourt, by the same dev. This plays very similarly to the I'm on Observation Duty series with the maps using still cameras and the player reporting various types of anomalies over the space of '6 hours'. You can expect quirkiness, a few well done jump-scares and enough anomalies for the achievements to be worth the effort. The DLC for this game 'Halloween' brought a unique twist and I also liked what the various modes did to offer more gaming experience variety. Very much looking forward to the next DLC for this game.
