About This Game
A Hat in Time is a cute-as-heck 3D platformer featuring a little girl who stitches hats for wicked powers.
A little girl and her spaceship
In A Hat in Time you play as a tiny space-travelling girl with a big tophat. Her adventure is halted when all her fuel, the Time Pieces, is lost and scattered across a nearby planet. Hat Kid must now jump, fight and stitch new hats to make her way into every nook and cranny of this new world in order to restore her fuel and resume her journey. On her way, she'll bump into the menacing Mafia of Cooks, the goofy birds of Dead Bird Studio, the spooky shadows of Subcon Forest, and more!Murder on a train! Parades! Trespassing in a movie studio?
Every mission in A Hat in Time is unique! At one moment you'll be solving the Murder on the Owl Express by finding clues and interrogating the locals, the next moment you'll be the band marshal in The Big Parade, or sneaking through the bird-run Dead Bird Studio!Small child, giant worlds
Jump freely around in 5 massive worlds with new adventures to discover around every corner! Just like any child, Hat Kid loves to climb and explore, no mountain is too big for her sense of adventure. She can do multiple jump moves, as well as climb walls, and swing over gaps!Cute hats, magical yarn and snappy badges
By finding and collecting rare magical yarn, Hat Kid can stitch new cute hats with a variety of abilities, including a witch hat that allows her to cook explosive concoctions, and a wooden ghost mask that allows her to peek into other dimensions. Hats can become even more powerful, by attaching badges that are found, sold and traded by the locals!Community-funded, community-focused
A Hat in Time was successfully funded on Kickstarter, reaching nearly 10 times its goal! In order to celebrate our community, A Hat in Time is releasing with full modding and Steam Workshop support, an in-game screenshot mode, and more!Screenshots

I never knew this game existed until I saw one Youtuber play this like multiple years ago. I was immediately interested in the game. As such, I bought this game, and boy, was I never disappointed. It's been four years since I last played the game before returning to Steam a month ago (to get Civ 5 which was on sale) and I played it again as it drew my attention in the Steam Library. And wow, it really reminded me why on earth I loved this game. Great art, great music, good characters, cute-as-p*** main character (Grooves: LANGUAGE, DARLING), decent worldbuilding, it's a complete all-in-one package. The game can be tough at times, but overall it's manageable. If you see a ledge afar where you see a collectible; be it a yarn, a relic, or a token, you begin to wonder if there is a way to get there. You look around, and voila, you see some stacks of items or a dusty wall that you can stand on/climb on to get there. These collectibles also give you the reason to explore, which is a must i...
Very fun with mods and in general I do think thatOnline is some what worth it. Because it makes the place feel more alive
In short, this game is a good example of what would happen if modern AAA devs decided to make an old-school 3D platformer. 1) Shallow gameplay - check 2) Inconsistent performance and constant freezes - check 3) Stealth sections - check 4) Upgrades (some of the badges), that should be available from the start - check 5) Mechanics that feel like they were added to the game bc "everyone uses them now" - check 6) Set pieces - check 7) The game starts to feel like... Well... You know... LIKE A GAME only by the end - check 8) Lazy attempts at ramping up the difficulty - check 9) Some of the upgrades being pretty much useless, cause they can only be used in very specific places for very specific purposes - check 10) There is even a delivery mission. Short. Boring. Pointless - check. Only... The game wasn't made by a AAA studio. It is the work of an indie developer. So add to the mix a dozen or two smaller issues like: 11) introducing new mechanics in a level, which you have to beat ...
I got charged 1500 for attacking a cactus..
I think this is the first case where i wanted a "so so" option for a review. Let me preface this by saying the game is fun (so far at least) and has a shit ton of stuff to do especially if you include mods. My main issue comes from a lot of the small things that piled up when i initially started and it left a really bad taste in my mouth going into the game. I boot up the game and somehow it's stuttering to hell and back on a rig that can run cyberpunk and helldivers just fine i mess around with graphics until i finally get it working acceptable then i find out i can't alt tab while in borderless so i'm forced into fullscreen. Now we start the game right? well kinda, i start and realize ok i don't like ctrl for the dive so i go into settings assuming i can change keybinds but no nothing, spend a bit looking for it to no avail so i give up and google it and what was the result? I need to tinker in the settings ini file to change keybinds and it's for whatever reason not in the game. T...
Just a weird game with a weird story and characters. The game play itself was also weird. Honestly can't find myself recommending this.
I LOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEEE A HAT IN TIME BUT I CAN'T EAT IT CUZ THEN I'LL GET FAT BUT IT'S SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD
Dude. A miracle just happened today.
An homage to Super Mario Sunshine that brings some of the best parts of that game along with some of the worst, there were some really well crafted and different levels like the stealth train and the wide open sky level, had a lot of charm in the writing, some of the platforming was great while some was abysmal due to the camera angle, distances were sometimes just a crap shoot hoping you would land on something after jumping, the pacing was great though and the game made sure it didn't overstay its welcome
