About This Game

◆ Update Status (as of June 3, 2024) ◆
We heard your feedback that the game felt too luck-based, and so we have rolled out an update on May 27 that addresses balancing issues and tweaks luck-based features of the game.
On June 3, we have also released an update that added the ability to redraw cards at the start of each case, which allows players to have a better ability to strategize and take control of their playthrough. This should make it less likely for players to run into situations where they are forced to rely on pure luck.

Would you like to play a game of deduction?

Before you are the testimonies from the 3 suspects of a murder case.

Among them is a lying murderer...

X: Obviously, the culprit is Y.
Y: I'm not the culprit.
Z: X and I are not the culprit.

Could you quickly tell who the murderer was?

The job of a detective reaper is simple: get testimonies from the suspects, deduce the culprit, and execute them with your own two hands.

Culprits always tell lies, and the innocent always tell the truth.

If you choose incorrectly, you will be deemed unfit to be a detective reaper... and yours will be the next life to be harvested.

This is a roguelite deduction adventure game.

Every murder case you have to solve is randomly generated on a game board, and if you fail (and get a Game Over), you will have to start all over again.

No two cases are entirely the same, and there is no single correct way to proceed.

Rack your brain and expose murderers, one after the other.

How long do you think you can last...?

Game Features

 • Cards that can help you gain new and crucial testimonies. They cost money though, so keep an eye on your finances!
 • All cases are randomly generated, so no matter how many times you play, every playthrough provides new deductions for you to solve.
 • Brave event tiles and get supportive items as you make your way across the board in order to solve just one more case!
 • See how well (or not) you did on the results screen. Can you grow as a detective reaper and beat your own records?
 • Unlock Hard Mode to pit your detective skills against the clock!

How to Play - Cards and Money

You can use cards to obtain new testimonies, among other things, in order to ensure a successful deduction.

However, cards cost money to play.

If you overuse them and run out of money, you might struggle with a tougher case later.

You can earn money by successfully executing culprits, and bonuses are offered to those who identify culprits efficiently.

Will you use all your cards to make sure you have the right suspect, or will you save up your money for later?

As a detective reaper, it's your responsibility to spend wisely.

You can unlock new cards based on how much money you spend on each run, so you could also spend as much as possible in earlier runs to unlock more cards more quickly.

How to Play - The Board

After solving each case, it's time to decide your next move.

Choose between Deduction, Shop, Treasure, and Random tiles to move forward on the board.

■ Shop
Here is where you purchase items and cards, or pay to recover some HP.

Use the hard-earned money you've saved up from previous deductions to gain an upper hand.

There are also Demerit Cards and cursed items which have detrimental effects... but the shop will pay you to take them off their hands!

■ Treasure
Here, you can open a treasure chest and obtain a random item.

There's a chance the item inside is cursed, though...

■ Random
Who knows what will happen? Test your luck!

■ Deduction
There has been a murder! Find the culprit(s) and execute them.

There are 3 types of deductions: Normal, Difficult, and Arduous, in order of difficulty. The last tile of every stage will always be an Arduous Deduction, so make sure you're prepared to tackle it by then!

After you successfully solve an Arduous Deduction, the detective reaper's story progresses.

Every mistake can be fatal. Solve the cases the best you can to reach the end of the story.

Having heard about this game when it was first announced I was interested in checking it out as soon as it was released. Unfortunately the final product was nothing like the expectation I had in the lead up to release day. Cases can go from immediately solvable due in part to the opening statements (X: D is the culprit, D: X is the culprit, Y: D and myself are not the culprits) to a coinflip because of pointless testimonies causing you to waste cards thinking you can get helpful information out of some uncooperative suspects. The penalty system for executing the wrong person is also weirdly unbalanced, as you can have a max HP value of 80 but a wrong answer does 75 damage. You can find or buy cards that raise your max HP and reduce penalty damage but it's all still random. The cards you can pick up during a run either after successfully solving a case or purchasing in the shop don't offer much variety (you can have a choice between a 5-cost card that gets a testimony out of a suspect...

Decent idea, pretty bad execution. UI feels clunky, "map" is too small and different room names overlap. Some testimonies are pointless and don't make sense. I'm guessing it might improve in the future, but I'm not really willing to wait. Sorry, refunded.

I was going to give this game a good review with happy smiles and good tips, but I'm mixed, now. The game does not understand what constitutes a "lie" when it comes to locations, specifically when time is not a factor (only 01). I've seen multiple culprits *honestly admit* their location in their opening message. I have to completely disregard location. Play Gnosia if you want an interesting puzzler type game like this but with more elements of social deduction and argumentation. If you still want to give this game a shot, here's how to break it: Max out on Culprit cards, SKIP everything else. The AI does not consider what has been said previously. If there is 1 killer, and they accuse 2 people? Murderer. If there is 1 innocent, and they say 2 people are innocent? Murderers. The AI is incapable of throwing its ally under the bus. This applies to ANY uneven group, but it is harder to pull off. Remember: if someone says someone else is innocent, they are always on a team with that ...

I already played an hour worth of this game and genuinely, I'm conflicted by what I really feel about this game, but then I see the price tag and in all honesty? It's a really neat execution. The idea is simple, using simple deduction, using cards in your deck, you need to be able to sort out whodunnit in quick mysteries via testimonies, time, and location. At first, and in some cases, it's very obvious as killers lie and innocents are truthful, matching statements making it easier to detect, but then when you have 4-5 people and 2-3 killers, suddenly you have a bit more of a troublesome situation making you needing to pay close attention while on a time limit. For $10, if you want a solid roguelike to experience? Pick this up. Slay the Spire is one of my all time fave games and, admittedly, Balatro didn't click with me (but I'm still playing it since it's still fun in the end) but this is cheap and pretty solid. I'm very curious about Natalie's story as there's an underlying sto...

Mostly a bad game, but fixable, as it is not intentionally bad, and it already has the groundwork to being great. The random setups are either too easy or a random guessing game, and the punishment for randomly guessing wrong is too hard. All suspects will only give 3 replies, a VERY dumb limit, as they may even be a nonsensical space waster declaration, that is just adds to bad randomness. At random times you have to guess, and this is usually an instant-lose-scenario. The economy is WAY too hard+expensive+random, too often getting you into the random insta-kill scenario. how to fix this: - never have anyone make no statement from the start. that is a random resource waster. - never have anyone say "i am innocent", as this is a space waster. - never have anyone say anything, that NEVER helps the case. (shocked, weather) - - alternative solution to the above, anyone who ever declares a space waster can be executed without penalty but then will no longer declare anything. . . . mayb...

I hate being negative on a small indie game, this has clear passion behind it and a very good idea under its belt, but this is a very flawed game on a fundamental level. Even if all the weird jank and bugs was fixed in its entirety, the foundation this game builds upon isn't engaging for a roguelike, this isn't the kind of game you want to replay and see how things change between runs, the only big difference between runs is how much you get screwed over by random chance, sometimes you get a case where 2 people say "X is the killer" and it's a sweep, other times you get no testimony at all and when you ask questions, they give you "I can't believe this" or "I'm Thirsty". This is where the cards are supposed to come into play, but there will be times when you try to use them optimally and because the witnesses just choose to not be helpful, you get stuck with barely any more info than before. This wouldn't be too bad if you could more easily opt out of runs and start again, but there's ...

A really great repayable murder mystery rogue-lite where you solve murder after murder with really nice graphics and feel, it is clear a lot of care went into the game. The core murder mystery puzzles are like liar puzzles (similar to mimic logic) where the culprits lie & the innocent tell the truth and you must deduce the murderer from this. Each mystery has a very cool little map showing where people were at different times (although it doesn't tell you who is who). This map is great and unique, it is very cool to see the murder play out in motion, sometimes with the murderers lying in wait and victim entering the room, or sometimes following them in in a later part of the sequence. The map is an integral part of the game which sets it apart, with layers people being in different locations at different times adding a lot of things for the characters to talk and lie about, and it causes some very great difficult logic puzzle with very satisfying solutions. You can only get a few st...

Nice little game. I hope the devs will continu to develop it and add cards and game mecanics. I got to the end of the run but
sadly, in chapter two, innocent started lying and culprit started to tell the truth and I hope it will get patched quick.
