About the Game

Drop Duchy takes on the iconic geometric puzzle gameplay we all know and love with a fresh perspective: instead of simply clearing lines, you'll be thoughtfully building a realm using pieces of various shapes and types to overcome enemy challenges.

A mix of deckbuilding, puzzle and rogue-lite, the game offers a new gameplay designed to hone your appetite as a block-stacking tactician. Optimization is key to collecting precious resources, protecting your castle, and building your army.

Defeat is not the end, though: use the experience gained in previous runs to unlock even more content!

In each round of your run, Drop Duchy offers you a fresh and unique landscape to work with. Place tile pieces as you would in a typical block-dropping game but with a strategic twist: you need to align them to maximize their activation rules, producing maximum resources and units.

Selecting the optimal structures to place next to blocks of lush forests, wild rivers or grassy plains is crucial for maximizing your materials use and nurturing a bustling realm.

Forming lines grants bonuses, yet the ultimate goal is to pack up the most resources gradually. These resources will be crucial to build up your army bit by bit, ensuring your kingdom is well-protected against the enemy threats.

Select your path, gather your troops to outnumber your enemies, and reclaim the regions under their control. But be careful: letting your castle take too much damage can lead to defeat.

Successful battles lead your forces down branching, decision-filled paths in a march to storm the enemy fortress.

If your army falls before capturing the bastion, you can quickly jump back in and try a new strategy, thanks to a cleverly designed gameplay loop.

Adapt, conquer, and keep the action moving!

Grow in power with a rich deckbuilding system: build and enhance constructions with over 110 unique cards, each offering powerful upgrades and modifiers. Unlock new possibilities when using building or technology cards, each granting new bonus structures to boost soldier recruitment & various other perks. Customize your deck to suit your strategy and optimize your realm’s growth.

As you progress on your run, trade with markets or guilds to acquire valuable resources, use them wisely to upgrade your deck, make strategic decisions, and choose your path for the next round.

Drop Duchy features a robust meta progression system with over 100 unique misssions! Climb the ranks and unlock various bonuses such as increased resources, new cards or additional health.

These missions are intertwined with the three playable factions: The Duchy, The Republic, and The Order, each offering exclusive faction quests that grant faction-specific rewards. Completing these objectives across your runs not only tailors your strategy but also improves your chances of success, ensuring that every playthrough contributes to your long-term progression and victory.

DLC already? This soon after release and it is a single faction, this is a red flag for the future. I Really wish these was a neutral review option. Only time will tell if they will end up having lots of DLC that would require a huge investment with only mild entertainment value added per dlc.

This game is full of potential, it's crazy to me that I'm going to leave a bad review given how much about this game is good, like I could write many many positive points, but I'm closing in on the 2hr refund limit and I just can't justify continuing to play given how obtuse the game is. It feels like I'm always making mistakes, but the issues lie more in how the game is delivering information than how I am playing. Early on in the tutorial, there was a tip, a tip I could reference later in the encyclopedia that says something like: "pay close attention to the weakness and strength diagram! Units do 50% better against units that are weak to them" and I was like ok, this sounds important... where is that diagram? It's not in the encyclopedia, it's not visible during the game, nor is it in the (admittedly helpful) combat instructions... where is it? It was only later, much later, that I noticed it, off in the rightmost corner of the screen where you select your units BEFORE a game begin...

A cleverly designed roguelite that merges tetris with basic weapons-triangle combat. Has some weaknesses that make it kind of frustrating to play, but it's still good overall. I've certainly not seen any game like this before. The atmosphere is good between the art and music. If you're looking for a relaxed tetris experience it's a little lacking - it should probably have an undo button (since if you make a mistake you can just hit 'reload save', there's no reason not to have undo), and the way rotating pieces works is a little fussy. But similarly if you want a hardcore tetris experience there's not really time pressure to make your moves. The pieces fall incredibly slow and swapping your current piece with the reserve piece resets the drop timer. So it's not really hardcore tetris either. The combat is perfectly fine for what it is, but feels very simplistic. Despite being simplistic, the UI is lacking and succeeding at combat requires you to do a bunch of mental arithmetic to esti...

Scratches that rogue like itch in just the right way. Fun interactions between cards in the deck and just all around great game. It gets super tough the further you go into the difficulties so if you like a challenge you'll love this game too.

I'm really enjoying the game. More so though, go to the discussion board.. just look how active this developer is. What a huge difference than normal at this level of game development. Kinda stoked. But yeah.. i enjoyed it.. What will you hate? Well the game does have a " lingo " your gonna f**k up or not understand a thing as you are learning to play. Youll get there it wont take long but 100 percent you are going to misunderstand a thing... realize a thing.. then kick yourself for not having gotten there sooner. Plays well on deck.. text gets to me after awile. Fantastic on reg PC. Lots of achievement lots of different way to play in unlocking new factions that change up the concepts a little. A very inventive mix of Tetris and deckbuilding. The mix naturally makes little optimization puzzles as you try to maximize your own synergies while minimizing synergies of enemies. I particularly like how progression is tied to specific actions rather than just winning runs. This encourages experimentation with more of the game's cards instead of finding a couple strong combinations and using them repeatedly.

A challenging and unusual twist on the traditional deck builder, with a dash of auto battler. My Tetris skills served me well, but maybe not as well as I'd like.

Addicting Tetris style rogue-like deck builder involving significant strategic thinking around card combo chains. Earn cards as you play through a round, which all have effects including resource generation and army building. The end of each round, you pit your built units against the AI in a rock, paper, scissors type of counter system, and each of the 3 acts have a boss board at the end. 3 playable factions to progress through at the time of writing this, each with their own play styles to figure out and master. Definitely a "just one more round" type of game where all of a sudden its 6am and the horizon is getting brighter.....

I love the concept but going through a couple runs has already made it clear the game doesn't go past a frustrating experience for me. Too much randomness to consistently progress. I thought it would be minimized by your "lives"/defense points (which seems to be a large number at first) but it still only takes you one bad draw/map for an entire run to be over.
