This was a pretty good Indie Horror game. It had a good story/premise to it. The graphics and reflections are really good. I wish the fov was adjustable because personally I thought it maybe 10 degrees higher then my personal taste but i got used to it. It took me about 45-50 minutes to complete the game with all steam achievements. I thought the atmosphere was great and it had a few good jump scares with the perfect sounds attached to really catch you off guard. It does use a lot of triggers to set things in motion so if you feel like your lost or nothing seems to be advancing you in game just walk back and forth to hit the trigger points. Sometimes that requires walking all the way down the hallway to a door you already have checked and know is locked then walking the other way back down that same hall and a new door will be open to go through. The game is worth the $7 price tag on it in my opinion. Wish it was another 30-40 minutes longer though. See my game play here. https://yout...

Kowloon
Under the misty skies of China lay Kowloon, the most densely populated city, a tangle of narrow streets and endless passageways. Here, time lost its meaning, and the buildings merged into one indistinguishable sea of iron, concrete, and glass. Every step in this city led to a new discovery, a new story hidden within its walls. Hidden in the heart of Kowloon are places that defy description. Mysterious backstreets and cramped alleyways where the locals lived their hidden lives.ㅤ

Description
Poverty and gang violence flourish in the heart of the neighborhood. However, for a young student, the first and most urgent desire is to find cheap housing. When he crossed the threshold of his new home, he instantly felt himself drawn into a different reality. The inhabitants of this marvelous place seemed to keep their secrets from the gaze of outsiders. There was mystery in every look, mystery in every whisper, as if they were guarding something important, hidden from view.

The beginning of the game was promising, thanks to the filthy atmosphere of Kowloon that was well reproduced. Unfortunately, it quickly turns into a series of very lazy jump scares. Progress consists of going back and forth between different corridors to trigger scripted events and solve overused puzzles like “turn on the generator by finding a can of gasoline.” I was hoping for a game that paid better homage to the history of Kowloon. But in reality, it feels more like the developers used it as an excuse to differentiate themselves from the ocean of generic indie P.T. clones. There is barely even any Chinese text in the environment, all the graffitis and other texts are all written in English. It can be completed in 40 minutes and isn't particularly interesting. I don't know how this game manages to have an 86% positive rating on Steam. I guess some people unironically love jump scares.
One of the most polished Indie horror games I've ever played. The visuals are clean, the jump scares are on point, and the choice of environment / design is top-tier. Kowloon is an incredibly interesting historical artifact rife with stories to be told and unique environments to extort for eerie stories and unique settings, and Welcome To Kowloon really does a good job of taking advantage of this fact. As others have mentioned my only issue as well is that the game is a little too short, but still a great little experience.
The only dislike I have with this game is the length of time....wish it had been longer. Not TOO long but a like a 1/2 hour longer. Other than that, this is classic indie horror at its best.
I liked the atmosphere and the beginning stages but for the life of me, I cannot get past the run scene due to shift being the key to run alongside a WASD movement feature. Being able to reset keybindings for this would be optimal. Probably great on console but not so grand on PC.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’d been looking for a truly atmospheric indie horror, and Welcome to Kowloon blew me away. Exploring that claustrophobic, maze-like version of Kowloon Walled City felt both unsettling and mesmerizing—every dim corridor and concrete alley oozed with dread. The sound design did heavy lifting here, with every distant whisper or creaking door heightening the tension. It’s a walking simulator at heart—about an hour long—so don’t expect high-speed action or a deep character arc. But for me, the pacing worked beautifully with the oppressive environment. Even simple things, like feeding the dog early on, stuck with me emotionally. Yes, the jump scares felt a little heavy-handed in places, and I noticed occasional camera shakes or stutters—but none of that broke the immersion completely. The overall vibe was undeniable and worth it. https://youtu.be/QiPmHuMB3iY
