Generic to bad story, repetitive combat, mobile game style map. Game is pretty bad. I thought I'd at least like the combat but it gets old fast. You only have really one combo to spam while you wait for abilities to come off cooldown. DMC-style combat my a**, this is a snoozefest. And the story starts off kind of interesting with some medieval politics and drama but it devolves to super basic 'resistance movement trying to save some oppressed people'. It doesn't even try to do anything interesting with it either, with the world building and lore just being poorly written nonsense that will leave you scratching your head. Playstation could have kept this exclusive and we wouldn't have missed anything.

About the Game
The first fully fledged Action RPG in the mainline Final Fantasy series. An epic dark fantasy world where the fate of the land is decided by the mighty Eikons and the Dominants who wield them. This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a warrior granted the title “First Shield of Rosaria” and sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the dominant of the Phoenix. Before long, Clive will be caught up in a great tragedy and swear revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity in its wake.
Titanic Clashes - When rival Dominants come head to head, epic battles between their Eikons ensue!
Eikonic Action - Clive utilizes the powers of multiple Eikons in breakneck battle!
From Strength to Strength
A plethora of powerful swordplay techniques and Eikonic abilities lie within Clive's remit—and it is up to you to decide which ones you wish to learn or upgrade. If you're having trouble choosing, upgrades can be unlocked automatically.
Story-focused mode is recommended for those players who are less comfortable with action games and wish to focus more on the game's story elements. In this mode, Clive will automatically evade some attacks, and epic Eikonic combos can be triggered with simple button presses. game blows your mind for 10% of the time and makes you do chores for the other 90%
Really solid story. Clive and his crew are fantastic. The combat was really fun. Probably one of the most visually stunning and cinematic games I’ve ever played. And Torgal is a very good boy 🙏
DO NOT BUY THIS ON PC amazing fucking game I love this game to bits but holy fuck square enix CANNOT make a pc port for the life of them how is it 2025 and we STILL get ports like this
Devil May Cry Fantasy XVI – A Stylish Yet Divisive Entry
So, where should I begin? Let’s start with the obvious: Final Fantasy XVI is arguably the least "JRPG" installment in the entire series — for better or worse. Many traditional mechanics and elements like status effects, party-based combat, or resource management are either heavily simplified or completely absent. That doesn’t make it a bad game by any means, but it definitely stands apart from what longtime fans might expect. The game uses a semi–open world structure. Areas are zoned, and to travel between them you rely on fast travel. While the world looks great, exploration often feels static or limited. (I really wished we could have explored at least one large, fully explorable city — just to walk around, soak in the atmosphere, and interact with more than a handful of NPCs.) Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (Part 2) handled this kind of structure much better in my opinion, with more rewar...
It's certainly a game, but the only reminder of it being an FF game are the chocobos. It's mostly fights and cinematics and no levity, no real party, just a single character and real time fights. Very little variety in fights too. Edit to add: uninstalled the game. The depressing tone and excessive obnoxious boss fights got way too tedious.
Final Fantasy XVI is a powerful, emotional ride wrapped in stunning visuals, phenomenal music, and one of the series' best stories in years. Clive's journey is gripping, the world of Valisthea is rich with lore, and the Eikon battles are jaw dropping in scale and spectacle. But while the narrative soars, the combat doesn’t quite keep up. It’s flashy and responsive, but lacks the depth and variety to stay engaging over time. The absence of a party system or real build variety makes most fights feel repetitive by the mid game. Still, despite the shallow mechanics, the emotional weight and cinematic ambition of FFXVI make it worth the journey. Recommended for story lovers.. but action RPG veterans may crave more depth.
I really want to love this game, it looks cool and feels fun. I can barely progress through it because of the poor optimisation. I'm getting to sick of constantly having to google fixes and bug issues just to run it. On the other hand i see others have had no issues which is great for them... However i tried playing this on an average build, it could barely run. Then later on tried again when I got a new Pc which would be consider "high end" I guess. It runs great then every few minutes it goes down to maybe 10 fps and feels slo-mo. This was after trouble shooting it straight up freezing my new Pc. The only reason I didn't refund it is because I was too "late" to do so lol. If your game does't run properly there shouldn't be a timelimit. I've loved SE games for a long time but releasing a game in this state shouldn't even be allowed, especially at this price point. Also refusing to refund when the product doesn't run properly also shouldn't be allowed. I'm annoying with SE an...
Were the game is mostly 90% FMV/ Cinematic video, and 10% game play... makes for a killer story line, one hell of a long "movie" and terrible game play... and when I mean terrible , I mean lack their of.. When u do "play" its great.. but expect to be bombarded by in game cut scenes every.. what feel like 30 steps... Preformence wise.. its a steady 144hz @ 1440 at max settings.... so yay.. so if you like good raw story telling YEY if you like core game play then NAIGH
I finished the main game and story with a little bit of side quests and will definitely return to it. I haven't played any final fantasy games besides this one so I am not talking as an FF connosieur. Gameplay although very enjoyable did get repetitive towards the end when fighting the fodder enemies. Every single non-repeat boss fight was fucking flawless to the point I got shivers half the time. Storywise it was impeccable as well. Also Kaiju fights. The only genuine issues I can find are side quests, and that is mostly because they weren't interesting at all.
