For the record, I think this is a very solid game. As someone who's been looking for a Homeworld game that actually works on my PC (Remastered collection has blackscreen issues that I haven't found anywhere else so far) I was looking forward to this game, and the one round I played of it, I had a lot of fun with it. It's the developers I take issue with. If anyone had looked through the EULA of the game, you'll find that this company is attempting to not only push this game as a license instead of an ownership (an extremely unpopular angle on online sale these days) but are also attempting to claim any and all video content made using said game is usable by them without credit or compensation. They are also attempting to enforce UK law globally, as any lawsuits you may wish to file against them MUST be carried out in the UK, and nowhere else, and presumably this also applies to any lawsuits they may come after YOU for. This is also on top of the fact that the Early Access release is ...

About This Game
Era One is a space-themed game developed by Team Complex LTD.
Combining innovation, customization, and epic space battles, Era One offers a unique gaming experience. Players can customize their own ships using assembly modules, construct stations, warships, bases, and even cities in space. The game seamlessly blends real-time strategy (RTS) and base building elements, providing players with the opportunity to engage in intense battles between space fleets.

From the ashes of a shattered universe, a young woman's quest for salvation sparks a journey of intrigue, danger, and discovery. In a future where Earth's resources were depleted, humanity embarked on The Great Colonization, expanding to other planets. The rise of mining corporations led to conflicts and the emergence of space piracy. A wealthy magnate discovered a powerful energy source, leading to the construction of the Navi Mondo, enormous fortified and self-sustaining cities in space, and the formation of the Free Federation of Worlds. Centuries passed, and the population was pushed to abandon planets, living only on the Navi Mondo. However, genetically engineered biominers mutated and posed a threat. With resources nearing exhaustion, the Free Federation planned to migrate using Hyperspace Leap technology. The colonizing ships Victrix and X Gemina encountered a gravitational anomaly, causing a breach. Chaos ensued as resources depleted, wars resumed, and the political system collapsed. Alya De Shars sought to steal a power source to launch a secret ship and start anew. This sets the stage for a story of humanity's struggle, the rise and fall of an empire, and the hope for a fresh beginning beyond the Solar System.
We asked Alberto Selvaggi to read Era One's lore and compose based solely on his inspiration and years of passion for music and piano. The result is a unique and emotionally touching soundtrack that will accompany us throughout the story, adding depth and making everything deeply engaging.
The player can construct their own base using a set of assembly modules, with no limit to shape or size.
Extensive Base Customization: Era One offers a wide range of options for base construction and customization. Players can design and build their bases from scratch, choosing the layout, structures, and aesthetics that suit their playstyle.
Resource Management: Building and maintaining a base requires effective resource management. Players must gather and manage resources such as raw materials, energy sources, and workforce to construct and upgrade their bases. Proper allocation of resources is essential for the growth and sustainability of the base, ensuring its survival in the game world.
Defensive Structures and Strategies: Bases in Era One must be fortified against external threats. Players can construct defensive structures such as turrets, and traps to protect their bases from enemy attacks. Choosing the right defensive strategy, positioning defenses strategically, and upgrading them over time are crucial aspects of base building in the game.
Research and Technological Advancement: As players progress in Era One, they can unlock and research new technologies to enhance their base-building capabilities. Advancements in areas such as construction techniques, resource extraction, and defensive systems provide players with additional options for base expansion and fortification.
Players can build their starships according to their preferences.
Vast Ship Customization Options: Era One offers a wide array of ship customization options, allowing players to design and personalize their vessels. Players can choose from different ship types, sizes, and aesthetics, customizing various aspects such as hull design, paint schemes, and exterior decorations. This level of customization allows players to create unique and visually distinct ships that reflect their individual style.
Modular Ship Components: Ships in Era One are built using modular components, offering players the flexibility to tailor their ships for specific roles and functions. Players can select and install various modules, such as propulsion systems, weapon systems, cargo holds, and utility modules, based on their playstyle and objectives. The modular nature of ship components enables players to experiment with different configurations and optimize their ships for exploration, combat, trading, or other specialized tasks.
Upgradeable Ship Systems: As players progress in the game, they can acquire new technologies and upgrade ship systems to enhance their performance. Upgradable systems can include engines for increased speed, shields for improved defense, weapons for enhanced firepower, and scanners for better exploration capabilities.

no campaign YET, give it a "wait" for now. it's still very Homeworld-esque and it's just 30 USD for a 1v1 against a cpu. i don't regret buying it, but i don't recommend it as of now.
I have seriously considered refunding the game due to the following reasons: - It is more or less the same with the demo released a few months before. Same maps, same units and modules. The only addition is the ability to save and choose different colors. The rest is the same. The developers are selling the demo. - No new factions. - Campaign and multiplayer is not available at the moment. - I was expecting more. Disappointed. - Bad sound effects and terrible music. - Some voicelines like the female pilot's 'I'm going down' s are hideous. Soulless voice acting. - Pathfinding issues. Resource collectors get stuck trying to reach to the drop-off points under the ship. - What you get for the money you pay is the same skirmish versus a single AI opponent. Give it another year or two and check again. I do not recommend a purchase at the moment.
I'm worried. And the reason is balance, but not in the way you would think. Its not the balance is saying but what the balance is avoiding. its clear the game would prefer if you played a tactical game, few but meaning full ships. not as it refers to it in the setting tool tips "Base Building" nearly everything cost crew, this will be the true limiting factor for everything. more storage? 40 crew. a block that does nothing? 20 crew. Could the reason be to avoid cheeze? maybe, but in practice you your already limited in how big a ship can be and thats fine. but the real test here is why the number of 'modular ships' is restricted hard because of crew. so in paractice your modular ships will be kept to a minimum. Yes this mean that its not practical to forgo regular ships for custom. Im worried the balance isn't a choice but rather a limitation that being hidden. you can only play games with 1 ai. If you not totally sold, I would wait. the amount of game play is small. the modular sh...
SCAM, I played the tech demo for more than 20 hours in June. Now I get the same tech demo for the full price with inactive "campaign" and "multiplayer" buttons, the only available mode where you can't choose a faction, team or even change the number of bots in the lobby. In fact, the release has changed - the only thing that has changed is the ability to choose a paint job. If we talk about what a bad indie game is, where in fact the demos received a lot of comments on the discord server and give at least some feedback. You can just ignore it and "release it in early access". Players will eat it up. Maybe in 5-6 years they will go into beta testing.
hold off on this. the dev team has already proven they cant 1. communicate 2. reach deadlines and will rug pull on the community at the last minute also that EULA is hot trash. game crashes when you go back to menu. pop cap is super dumb. game hates steam overlay. also the sun is a cube... like wtf LOL fanbois attack people who dont agree with their viewpoints then get butthurt and get people banned. toxic fanbois
I never write reviews, but this stings. Have been waiting for this game to release since it was announced, and after playing the demo I was excited. Now though? It's the same as the demo, but with slightly better performance and a few additions. No additional factions, no new ships or modules, same uninspired maps. And then comes the price. $30 is just too much to pay for what is essentially the demo, just not free now. I know its early access, but right now, at $30. I can't recommend for what you get.
TL:DR The vision from the devs is here, and basic, core mechanics are in place and functional. Game is playable and has the potential to grow into something the space games market is missing. If you want to support modders turned game dev, then buy it. if you're on the fence, hold off for now. I'll break this review up into 3 parts, performance, gameplay loop, and final thoughts. 1. Performance System specs 7800X3D, 3080 10GB edition, 32gb DDR5 RAM, 2560x1440 resolution. In my sessions early game performance is acceptable, high settings w/ TSAA i was getting 120FPS to start. as a game progresses however frames start to drop, eventually getting as low as 22 FPS is mid-large battles. performance dropoff started to have a noticable affect for me once I was a decent way into the mid game, and for large battles in end game, I had to just accept it would be a bit of a slideshow. Strangely enough, turning all the settings to low seems to have little to no impact on performance. i suspect ...
Pretty good game, feels like a proper Homeworld sequel. My only real complaint is the crew quarters limit, it's so painfully low, you can build like 1 true capital ship and a small base and your basically capped out, and the settings are seemingly locked so can't change it. Turret HP is pretty low as well same with armour modules but at least u can get around that with Repair bot spam. I probably won't play it again until the settings get unlocked to modify crew limits or a mod comes around that greatly increases it, As the whole point of this game for me was building multiple battleships not just a single ship Edit* So upon more hours into the game, It's a fun game at the core but has a ton of problems -Blueprints sometimes refuse to save -Weapon effects disappear upon zooming out a bit -Weapons will shoot their own ship or friendly ships -Weapons don't obey their own combat ranges and often will be completely inactive until point blank -Repair bays have a strange 3-5 second d...
I decided to invest into early access for this game because the detail in building grabbed my attention. I’d played homeworld before which got boring real quick. So, I decided to give RTS space battle genre another go. Why not with a game that offering you lots of building customization. Right now of as Dev Build 9.5, the Campaign and Multiplayer is not available. The button are disabled. The option to play Player vs CPU. Once you go in here you get plethora of options. I love options in games. You pick to play one of three factions: Federation, Pirate or the ORGA. Federation and Pirates seems self-explanatory, but ORGA I don’t know. You choose the following in difficulty: Beginner, Novice, Veteran, Elite or Insane. You chose the following in playstyle: Defensive, Balanced, Aggressive. When you are choosing difficulty and playstyle this characterizes the CPU player. You can form teams. There are a total of six slot where you take the first of six slot leaving five left for other ...
