This is an okay start for a retro-style game, but it's missing some things that Atari 2600 developers would have remembered. Such as: a way to recharge your shields, more than one ship per game, and a reason to keep going to the right and not just sit in place forever (for example, fuel dumps and a fuel gauge that counts down until you refuel, or some kind of harder enemy that chases you from the left). Even if you had a reason to keep moving, where are you going anyway? The terrain doesn't change and it doesn't look like there is an end. It doesn't appear to have much variety of enemies. And for some reason they can ghost through the terrain while you can't. So no real strategy either. Some modern enhancements such as levels and goals would also help. Some Atari games even had that, although the earliest ones only had a level-select switch (which this game also doesn't have).
