A truly well written and enjoyable story of love and courtly intrigue. The characters are believable, the worldbuilding is detailed, and the romance scenes really do evoke emotion. Another character or two to romance would have been nice, but the options available are great.

About This Game
Without allies, the Kidia heir has no hope of taking the throne back, but you could offer them that hope. By allying with his enemy against your father, you could expedite your inheritance and end a dynastic feud, all at once. Always assuming that the vengeful heir is willing to share royal power with you.
Turncoat Chronicle is a 180,000-word interactive novel by Hazel Gold. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
- Play as male, female, nonbinary, or genderfluid; gay, straight, bi, asexual, or aromantic.
- Befriend your family's oldest enemy and end a dynastic grudge.
- Or, use your wiles to get close to your enemy and secretly plot against them.
- Rely on your court connections and diplomatic skills to earn your enemy's trust.
- Recruit a trustworthy ally to act as a royal doppelganger.
- Guide your chosen consort as they acclimate to the demands of court life.
- Aim for the crown, or pull the strings in secret, behind the scenes.
- Plot your father's downfall by blade or poison.
- Or, remain loyal to your father and strive to earn his approval.
- Take a chance and trust the one who could betray you, and perhaps even fall in love.
Either way, your decisions will go down in history!

Honestly really impressed with this one. The routes are interesting, and no matter what you do it feels like it is justifiable as being the "right" decision without really jumping through hoops to get there which I think is quite the feat to pull off when writing a more politics-oriented fantasy story. It's the perfect length to dive into multiple routes and see how they all play out, I highly recommend it.
Hosted Games has been releasing a bunch of quality games lately, and this game is not an exception. It will probably take a few hours or so to complete the story from start to finish, however, the story grips you from the get-go. The main characters are likable, events seem to happen at a reasonable pace, and the stats aren't frustrating to understand. If I were to have a gripe it would be there was not much in the way of action. But that is more of a personal preference. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys fantasy, political intrigue, and romance.
Absolutely delightful! Turncoat Chronicle had been one of my favourite WIP ever since I first played the demo and I am beyond excited to be playing the full game. The writing is extremely impeccable, with interesting and complex characters as well as rich lore and worldbuilding. Definitely enjoy the palace intrigue aspect of the game! Romance is not the main focus, but I think it is pretty sweet. My favourite part is definitely any interaction with Noni.
So damn boring story is just kind of stupid as well.
Very underwhelming and anti-climatic. You're just sitting around building up your stats to kill one person and marry another.
Good
eh. It's ok. About middle of the pack. It's competently written, but lacks any real heft or excitement. I'll forget it in about a day of reading it; but it's not terrible per se. Maybe I chose an uninspired branch?
Well. I would give it a neutral rating if i could. Its to well written to get a bad one and to confusing to get a good one. Its relativ short, just four chapters, but with three different paths, choosen in the first chapter. Theres just so much going on, so many new characters with unusual names, that it is very difficult to follow the story. Despite this, it seems always just skin-deep in terms of story. Also, the protagonist is older and experienced, wich makes them harder to relate to, as they have a backstory, but we see very little of it. However, unlike other games with this theme, it isnt just another Game of Thrones Clone, it has its own flavour.
