A "Princess Maker" game with a surprising amount of depth and a lot of incentive to play multiple times. To discuss much further would take away from the discovery elements that make the game truly special.

About This Game

Once upon a time, there was a lonesome Recluse, plagued with the desire to raise a child. Wandering nearby, the strange Witch of the Woods couldn't help but overhear this wish, and with a twisted humor gifted them a pot of dirt. Help guide the Recluse through the maze of fungal parenthood, then discover how many types of person (mushroom?) your Daughter can become!
When one Daughter falls, start over and discover new corners of the world... and a treasure trove of secrets and unlockables!

Raising a child is hard, raising a mushroom is no easier. Any little thing you do can change your Daughter's path in life - will she grow into a pretty little Fly Agaric or an uncanny and indomitable Cordyceps? A parent's role is key, so take it seriously... or perhaps you'd rather relax. There's always next time, after all!

The world of Mushroom Musume is fun and unusual, full of whimsical moments and unexpected dark corners. Discover shocking new outcomes and twists in familiar events by playing again as a different Daughter. Choose alternate paths, and gain a more complete picture of this odd world. Perhaps even spend time in a tale-within-a-tale and see the world through (slightly less) fungal-colored glasses...

Each Daughter grown earns you Spores, which you can then spend between runs to buy permanent upgrades. Cultivate your personal garden and gain improvements for future daughters, or maybe receive a rare item from the local summoning circle instead. Featuring exclusive music, unlockable mushroom girls, in-universe notes, and more!

You can find almost any color in fungi, and that's true of your Daughter too. Collect memories of Daughters past, colors, music, and more in your own personal Mushroom Almanac. With tons of treats to discover, foraging for everything could take years!

We offer an extensive demo of Mushroom Musume and welcome you to try it for yourself. The demo allows you to experience a wide slice of the game without any of the planned meta-progression elements, featuring...
- 180,000+ words of story
- Hundreds of photographs and illustrations
- Over an hour and a half of beautiful and haunting music
...So please, take a seat and enjoy your time spent as a mycological parent!

Fun game that makes you sound crazy to friends!
If you're a fan of visual novels, or games like Princess Maker you'll find this an enjoyable time.
This game lowkey ruined my life. Steam has informed me that I've played for 116 hours, which... sounds about right. It often wasn't actually fun playing, as there was a lot of quicksaving and loading dozens of times to actually get the necessary events for a specific ending. I suppose if I could change one thing I'd let players select the specific events they wanted when the seasons changed. So... lots of the gameplay itself got pretty frustrating, but all of the gradual lore revelations were awesome and exciting. I also loved when your previous daughters would make permanent changes to the world (it was always very exciting). I honestly wish that we could've gone further in the story. Sometime things (like cross the bridge) felt like they'd have tantalizing further progression, and then just... didn't.
such a charming and lovely little game!
gud
I was pulled in my the graphics, so I downloaded the demo. I was playing for a lot longer before I realized I was still in the demo, and I bought it within the hour. It's hard to explain it as a life-sim but text-based RPG does do it. It's got a choose-your-own-path sort of feel, where you raise a Mushroom Daughter. then the player takes over for the Mushroom, and with points based on their childhood, you navigate being a Mushroom Girl. I don't want to overpraise it. But it's $15 right now, and I'm more entertained on 15 bucks worth of game than I've been in a very long time.
I love Mushroom Musume!
Beautiful little game where you raise a mushroom as your daughter. I would recommend this game, but I'm honestly not too sure who I could recommend it to lmao. It's a weird, niche experience that really warmed my heart in a specific way. I'm ultimately really glad that people still make weird stuff like this :) Pros: + It's weird. + It's cute. Not just the art style, but also the overall mood of the events and characters. + There's always something that surprises me every run. Even picking a new choice for an event I've already seen will usually lead to something new. Not just flavor text but, like, actual new content. + Permanent upgrades that help upgrade your future daughters. + There's a lot of little collectibles and achievements. If you're into collecting achievements then you may like this. + It keeps track of your history of daughters :) Cons: - 90% of the gameplay is just playing through a run, getting an ending, and then starting over to see if anything has changed. I've h...
