About This Game

Vampire Therapist is the BAFTA-nominated narrative adventure / therapy simulator in the vein (get it) of What We Do in the Shadows, Young Frankenstein, My Dinner with André, and Horrible Histories where you play as a reformed bloodsucker helping other vampires find inner peace.

This isn't your typical visual novel — featuring a fangtastic cast (such as Matthew Mercer, Sarah Grayson, and Cyrus Nemati), Vampire Therapist teaches real therapy concepts with a story that explores what it means to live, die, live again, and maybe even how to feel alive. Because even vampires deserve to love themselves.

Step into the boots of Sam, a reformed Wild West gunslinger turned vampire therapist. After centuries of bloodshed, Sam teams up with a 3000-year-old blood-sucking mentor in a moody German nightclub, to guide fellow vampires through the twists and turns of their immortal existence — offering them a chance at self-acceptance in a world that feels ever more alien.

From self-loathing vampires who’ve witnessed millennia of human folly to agoraphobic social media addicts, and even those grappling with the trauma of seeing too many awful streaming series (we’ve all been there), Sam’s got his work cut out for him. With each session, Sam will challenge cognitive distortions using real-life therapy techniques to help his clients reconnect with reality — even if reality has left them behind.

You can’t fix the world, but maybe you can help other vampires accept it.

That is, if you can accept yourself first.

What Critics Are Saying:

"It's simultaneously earnest and winningly ridiculous...a labor of love, and an original one at that." — The Spectator

"Vampire Therapist is shaking a lot of things up in one very elegant bag." — Rock Paper Shotgun

"Every single character was memorable, and the thought of even more quirky clients for Sam to treat is exciting." — GameRant

"I came away from Vampire Therapist actively wanting to emotionally improve and be kinder to myself" - GamesRadar

  • Real Therapy Concepts: You’ll learn and apply real cognitive behavioral therapy concepts vetted by licensed therapists. By challenging client statements that contain “cognitive distortions”, you’ll help vampires see where their thoughts don’t match reality.

  • A Comedic Look Through History: Meet emotionally damaged vampires from ancient Greece, Renaissance Italy, Tudor England, and the Bronze Age.

  • An All-Star Voice Cast:  Featuring Matthew Mercer (Critical Role, Baldur's Gate 3), Francesca Meaux (Hades), Sarah Grayson (Gone Home, Hades II), Kylie Clark, and the game's creator, Cyrus Nemati (Hades, Pyre).

  • Unique Setting: Vampire Therapist merges cozy self-introspection with a dark European goth vibe. In fact, the whole thing takes above a goth club in Germany filled with willing necks to bite.

  • Minigames: Learn mindfulness meditation, safely and consensually bite sexy necks!

NOTE: Please read the content warning thoroughly before purchase. The game deals with mature and challenging themes that are not for the faint of heart.

This game will have you playing it like you're about to sit down for nice long talk with fascinating stranger. Some may annoy you, some will definitely have you cackling and other times, you will either cry at the breakthroughs you made or cheer at their triumphs. It was so entertaining and every sessions playing, I've always walked away learning more than I bargain. Could not recommend this game enough.

I went into this game expecting some vampire fun. I came out of it with some CBT terminology that has actually made the last month easier to process. Entertaining, well-written (albeit low plot) and I also just love the characters.

Having just completed this game, I absolutely love it. I've been going through a very hard time lately with everything going on in the world, my country, at work, and among my loved ones. This game taught me a lot, and gave me some new perspectives. It also gave names to some of the demons I've been facing for a long time, as well as those of my loved ones, and with that knowledge, I begin to understand how to combat them. If you're someone who is wanting to work on their own mental health, but also finds it easier to help others with theirs, and you want to enjoy a good story with some great humor in the process, this is a fantastic game for you. It's also got a lot of neat information and speculations for those who like history and mythology. However, if you're just wanting a visual-novel game about vampires, I'll caution you that this one leaves a bit to be desired from the actual gameplay perspective. There are two really annoying minigames that just aren't all that fun and rewa...

★★★★☆ (4/5) liked it better than i expected. the humor is up my alley and the client's struggles are engaging enough to get you going. also saw myself in some of their personal conflicts which is somewhat to be expected but it can still get you thinking. and lastly i wanna say... andromachos can get it any day!

i liked everything about this game: the art is, of course, gourgeous, the writing is clever and very funny, and on top of that the voice acting was such a pleasant surprise! i hope more people will find this hidden gem! thank you and good luck to the team in future projects :)

This is now one of my favourite Games of all time. It is filled with witty humour, historical references, humanity, philosophically and existentially intriguing questions, beautiful art, wonderful and impressive voice acting, intriguing (and, might I add, sexy) and wonderfully written characters... And, most important of all, it teaches the player as well as the main character of the story about compassion and the discovery of oneself. Compassion not only towards ourselves, but also towards the people around us. "Vampire Therapist" explores its characters and the world around them in a smart and gentle way that weaves in the teachings it learns us about psychology and cognitive distortions incredibly well. This game has made me reflect on a lot of my own patterns of thinking and helped me become more aware of them. I wish I had a Sam around me back in the times I needed him the most, so I wouldn't have suffered as much as my mind had lead me to believe I *had* to, but I guess that i...

It's charming and quirky, with good art, music, and voice work. It's narrative heavy and it's clear the devs did a great deal of research in order to make the characters and circumstances authentic, even three-dimensional for all that they're 2D. It's a great study in introspection while encouraging thoughtful external engagement. In the Jungian and witchy perspective, Vampire Therapist embraces the base precept of "shadow work," which is to acknowledge and accept the negative aspects of yourself, or your "shadow," in order to truly be your whole self.

Good dialog, story, and voice acting. I bought and played through the game and all the DLC. It gave me a unique perspective on what is like to be a therapist, I think I have more respect for the profession after having played this game. Your playing a story, there is one path forward at every turn but you learn from experience which choices to take.
