A Hostile Interpretation Of Immersive Sim Design

This game is a response to the current trend of Immersive Sim design, where every ability is perfectly suited to solve a specific problem in the game. In order to counter this "Lock and Key" philosophy, Mosa Lina is aggressively random.

This does NOT mean that the game has proc-gen. Tools and Levels are handmade, they are just randomly selected and sometimes slightly modified!

It's literally impossible for me to check if all levels are beatable with all combinations of tools. This is what makes it so satisfying: There is no premeditated solution for you to follow. You're forced to get creative.

The game continually spits out randomized problems. It's up to YOU to solve them, because I've never seen them before.

Raw Random

There are no safeguards here. You might get the same item ten times in a row. You might beat the game without seeing it at all. Every playthrough contains only a fraction of the total levels. They're also selected randomly. Nobody knows what'll happen.

It's this reckless abandon of predictability that allows you to stop worrying about "winning" and frees you to enjoy the experimentation. Fun things happen more often if you don't force them.

Physics-driven-Puzzle-platforming

The player, tiles, items and obstacles are all parsed through the same physics-engine. Everything interacts with everything else, allowing you to get really creative and expressive.Sure, all you do is collect fruits to open the portal, but HOW you do that is up to you entirely.

So far, every playtest has shown me that even the most straightforward design is powerless against the endless creativity of players. I sometimes discover new emergent behaviors myself, even after years of playing it

Local & Online Multiplayer

Bring a friend! Whether on the couch next to you or somewhere far away, Mosa Lina can now be enjoyed together! This opens up a lot of possibilities for crazy plays, hilarious fails and all-around creativity!

Level Editor & Steam Workshop

Use the built-in Level Editor to make your own Level Packs, or check out the many Level Packs made by the community! This is the place for those who have mastered the base game and are looking for an extra challenge. Good Luck!!

Thanks for checking out our game! Have a nice day :)

If you're looking for a physics-based, randomized puzzle-platforming game with fun, wacky tools, this is it. I never had so much fun coming up with complex solutions to such simple problems (even those which I created myself). Discovering the functionality and unique quirks of each item and their synergies with others makes for a very replayable and addicting game. With co-op, the amount of shenanigans you can get up to doubles; whether you combine your wits or sabotage each other, it's always a fun time.

Both innovative and simple, with an endless degree of complexity that you can dive into. Easy to pop into, pop out of. No progress to lose. Nothing to gain but your own satisfaction. 1,000 Wile E. Coyote On Crack deaths per minute. This game is a calm sort of chaos, one which deserves far more attention.

I love Wombat's work, he seems like a developer who cares greatly about fun and simplicity. There is no story, there are no goals, just sit back and enjoy your time with this wonderful digital toy. I wish that more games would feel like toys. More digital toys, less cheap horrors, power fantasies, narrative experiences, combat systems with parries. I just want a toy to keep me occupied damnit. If I want horror, I can to the woods at night. If I want a power fantasy I can always beat up some kids at the playground. And if I want a narrative experience I can read a book for God's sake. Don't get me started on combat systems, every game with combat after a few hours boils down to bullying stupid bots. When I was playing Dark Souls recently I felt bad for those guys, poor undead they can't do shit against me... Also Wombat, recently I upgraded from 60hz to 240hz, I cannot play Handulum anymore. This makes me a bit sad. Could you somehow fix the game framerate being tied to the monitor r...

This is the best I've seen randomised mechanics implemented into a platformer. There's just so much unique tools and the complete freedom to use them that you'll frequently find yourself pulling off these weird surrealist parkour moves and it's so much fun. Completely makes up for letting you get in unwinnable situations sometimes.
