About This Game

Explore, Mine, Automate - the world is yours!

Orebound is a voxel, factory, automation game set in a first person open-world. Explore the vast mountain ranges before you, or journey deep into the Earth to find the ultimate Dwarven prize – the Emberstone. Lost in the depths of time, the King has tasked you to scour the mountains to find its location. Using your Dwarven prowess and knowledge to mine, craft and automate through anything standing in your way. Build up or dig down! How far will you go?

Dig Deep and Discover

Journey down into the Earth to discover precious metals and resources to create your very own Dwarven mining fortress! Use your newly found building blocks to upgrade your tools and craft runes to enhance your efficiency. The deeper you go, the rarer the materials but who knows what else you’ll find in the depths of the planet.

Automate Your Way

Use your salvage to create huge automated factories to bring you a constant stream of blocks. Construct Dwarven drill rigs to mine out the mammoth crystal veins, use belts to connect your machines and refine your ores! Reach the heights of automation technology and live out your Dwarven dreams.

Features

⛏️ Voxel: Explore massive procedurally generated voxel landscapes; dig far and wide to search for ores all over (and under) the ends of the Earth.

🔨 Craft: Craft a multitude of dwarven items to help you dig deep into the mountains!

🔧 Automate: Build machines to mine and craft items to help you reach your goals!

🌍 Open World: Vast procedurally generated landscapes for you to explore.

As of Aug'25 this is very barebone, placeholder-ish at times and lacking QoL to be enjoyable. The premise, little bit of background story, the prospect of hoarding gold in huge piles is appealing and gives you some starting momentum, but in the end it all grinds to a halt as you start suffering from clunky interface, unnecessary mechanics, limited construction options and so on. The list of mostly unsorted peeves follows. There are three resource size tiers: small veins inside voxels, small/med deposit boulders, and infinite nodes in caves. The finite deposit boulders - those on the surface - turn out to constantly respawn, which is odd since I'd expect their non-renewability to be the driving factor to explore further. The in-voxel small pieces are too abundant and constantly get in your way if you do decide to go digging, since there's often not much reason to do so as the map is a Swiss cheese anyway. Cave connectors generation is odd in that they are huge. Those ...

The idea is good and some basics are there, but this needs to cook. Will try again when this got more content and optimization.

While the idea seems good on paper, the execution is extremely lacking. The overall feels a lot more like some alpha version in pretty much all aspects. It's another case of a game with some core mechanics, here exploration and mainly resource management, randomaly delves into other areas and that with extremly poor execution. It has for some ungodly reason a food system which is just a nuicance and nothing more and one of the worst and bost boring combat implementations i have seen pretty much ever (no different weapons and it's just running backwards while swining at the enemy chasing you in a straight line). The game is mainly a factory game though, so how does it perform in that area? ... not as badly but still far from great. Buildings are usually way too big to be handled comfortably, making it basically impossible to plce things in a nice and organized manner. The game also doesnt check for clipping at all, allowing you to build into other structures. Belts and pipes have extre...

Ore-bound is like an EA version satisfactory in an fantasy setting, while not having some of the same issues the game Techtonica had, ore-bound solved it in an differant way. while its an very ea game if you have odder ocd id say away from the game until its backed a bit more in the devs pc. but if you like, the lets play chaos streamer you will love the games freedoms of chaos ocd this game allows. while the monsters are still basic an need to be fleshed out more. id say if you want to support the game dev an do not care about early jank, get the game you will not regret it since the last hot fix solved older review issues its a lot better too.

The game needs a CPU with more than 4 cores. My potato has a good GPU, but the CPU is 3 generations behind the minimum hardware specs. I originally posted a negative review, as I was getting the FPS drops before I even built anything. The developers reached out to me, and we discussed the problem. From what I have seen, the game looks very promising. And the developers care, which is also a very good sign. I am certainly going to play it on my new gaming machine :)
