A classic of the tower defense genre. I believe most kingdom rush fans would either name this game or it's more original brother kingdom rush frontiers as their favorite. Both games can't compete with the sheer amount of content as the current king of tower defense, BTD6, but they offer something different that might appeal to you more. Levels are more distinct and puzzle-like with unique enemies and gimmicks. Heroes are micro intensive and less central to your strategy. Towers are more niche, there's more of a focus on your decision making, given that once the first wave in a level begins the enemies don't stop coming, and calling waves early gives you money. Which you are going to want, since individual tower upgrades are expensive and important. If this sounds interesting to you, give it a try! It's dirt cheap on sale, and there's a bundle including this game and frontiers, which is the aforementioned other fan favorite game in the series.

I've been a fan of Kingdom Rush for well over a decade now; I remember playing the mobile release for hours on my brother's crappy iPod, where not only were the icons and hit boxes ridiculously small, and how practically half the game was locked down behind a paid DLC wall, but my brother's device was in such bad shape, that I'd cringe every time I tapped the screen, scared that the glass would somehow crack even more than it already has. (and yet, even after all that time and abuse, that son of a gun still works!.....well, barely. it turns on). It was only during the 2020s when I actually got the PC version, which goes without saying is like ten times better than the mobile port I was playing before; but enough reminiscing about crappy iPods, is Kingdom Rush actually a good game? uhm.. yeah...? GASP!!! The kingdom is in DANGER!!! An evil wizard-thing randomly shows up and ...

While the game isn't hugely popular, it's familiar to most people who played it as kids on online gaming platforms. All I can say is that it's a truly fantastic game. It's a classic. As someone who played it from the very beginning, I'm incredibly pleased that Ironhide Studio has grown so much since its release, and I have high hopes for future installments just as good. 10/10

The original, and one of the best tower defense games ever. Just a classic, great, game. It is harder than later Kingdom Rush installments, but that's definitely not a bad thing! If your introduction to the franchise was Vengeance or Alliance, give this a play-through. You'll be glad you did.
