This game, might be the right fit for some... It is not the right fit for me, and it's likely not going to be the right fit for anyone like me. From the very beginning it feels almost painfully marketed to children. Bright and vibrant colors, somehow built to fade into a backdrop and be forgotten, mindnumbing classical music without the rhythm or action to fit a battle focused symphony, mindless clicking against enemies far too weak to pose even the slightest challenge. The character customization, equally as empty. sliders in only the face within reasonable degrees, no beanstalks, squat dwarves, or limit pushing abominations here. The "body type" and voice do not matter in the slightest as you will be an identity-less amorphous lump of armor and vague semblance of flesh to a point of "AM-like" distress. As someone who is 4 years into her transition I can safely say this is the type of thing that fox news uses to scare old people into voting away their ssi under the premise of "woke"...

I recommend waiting, since it's always online and will go free to play. I'm having fun learning the combat, but that and MMO-like monetization stuff are about the only things that feel fleshed out. Gameplay [list] [*] Great character creator (not locked after creating character btw) [*] Great combat (leaning on casual, but fun) [*] Decent enemy variety [*] No actual objectives. There are quests, but there's nothing to work towards. There are dailys/community objectives, but you don't make a dent in community objectives, so it's not something YOU can intentionally work towards. [*] 4 classes. 3 of those play very similar to each other. Their design also feels formulaic (identical combos, even if animations/reach is different). These classes don't hold a candle to Dragon Crown, Lunia, Grand Change and the like. [*] I have mixed feelings about the loot system. The stats are barely noticeable (and Arial damage, that is useless on bosses), but at least there's no 2% damage on Tuesdays und...

Towerborn is a beat-em-up in the vein of games like golden axe and knights of the round table, DFO, Streets of Rage, if you're comfortable with these games and memorizing and timing combos you'll probably have a good time. The art was okay, things felt repetitive, the styles were all very stylistic and none of them felt particularly interesting to me, they seemed very similar to other classes you'd play in other games. Palletswaps everywhere. A system of attachments to armor like socketing gems from diablo. Limited legendary gear, there's options but like, it feels like in a world of games with randomized loot or procedural generation the same effect of these hand curated experiences could have been done with roguelike elements and have made things more interesting. The pet system felt kind of stapled on and an afterthought except for a main character soley interested in them, what about a class specializing in them? If you want to make it such a feature why stop where you did? I...

This game crashes every time stating it ran out of video memory despite I've updated my drivers. It is not yet in a working state for Nvidia RTX 3060 cards apparently.

TL;DR: Towerborne is a solid beat-em-up game with a few RPG elements sprinkled on top. The action is varied enough that it kept me interested, but it can still get repetitive. There's plenty of loot to find, and various ways to min/max your builds. Overall, a solid experience and the online aspect has potential to make things more fun; playing solo is just as well. The only downsides to the game, at the time, are repetitiveness and microtransactions. Worth the money if you want a solid beat-em-up with some grind involved. If you don't like some grinding or the beat-em-up style, you may be better looking at something else. GAMEPLAY: The gameplay is solid enough. Typical light and heavy attacks that you can combo together to perform various types of attacks. The order you press them can change how you attack as well as your style. Each weapon has its own mechanic to use, and they all work well. You also have a dodge roll with i-frames that comes into play. Some of the RPG elements are ...
