About This Game

Crown Gambit is a narrative tactical game in which you guide three paladins down an ominous path, through a capital plagued by chaos and political unrest.

Pledge allegiance to one of the pretenders to the throne and help them ascend to power. Follow your own principles but be careful, as your choices often come at a price!

Pick a side among plotters and use ancestral relics to defeat your foes, from power-hungry knights to cunning nobles and rebel commoners.

What will you sacrifice to save the kingdom? Which heir to the throne will you champion? The realm’s destiny lies in your hands.

CARVE YOUR OWN PATH THROUGH THE CHAOS

The kingdom of Meodred's tenuous balance of power is being shaken to its core by a terrible political crisis, while mystical forces appear to be pulling strings from the darkness. Each pretender to the throne is rallying their troops to seize the crown, as the commoners forment a revolt and the tide rises still... At the heart of this turmoil, you play as three novice relic-wielding paladins of the crown forced to make difficult decisions to ensure the kingdom doesn't descend into chaos.

Refine your paladins' personalities through dreadful choices along the story and stay true to your own principles. Pick your allies wisely and navigate through rivalries to foil conspiracies. But trust no one: in times of chaos, duplicity reigns supreme.

FEEL THE IMPACT IN EPIC BOARD-SHATTERING CARD COMBATS

Control a trio of paladins in close-quarter tactical combat: Aliza, the blood-bending swashbuckler, Hael, the mace-swinging cleric, and Rollo, the anchor-waving tanker. Experience the might of your blows through impactful attack animations as you smash through enemies with your sacred relic weapons. Stay on your guard, as other powerful paladins follow their own allegiances - and they won't go down without a fight.

Prepare yourself during your travels and build the deck of each paladin carefully to overcome any obstacle in your way. Become a well-oiled united team fighting their adversaries and making each blow count - with style.

POWER IS A DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD

Channel dark and ancient power through your holy relics and turn the tides of battle by calling upon Ancestral Grace. You will certainly slash through your foes quicker but beware, as the price for this godly strenght may well be your soul...

Good game overall. The art is amazing, rough but still elegant, gives a lot of characterization. The storytelling is magnetic, a good old throne succesion story with very complex interactions between characters. The card game is very intellingent and fun. At first. Unfortunately this game sufferthe pace and the longevity; it is very mesmerizing at first but time reveals flaws, in particular the card game have so little to offer when you improve (same card, no relevant changes of gameplay, no sage use of the board, only fucus on damage). And the crashes... A lots of them, always after a long combat without saving. Maybe it's only my experience. Overall I strongly suggest to buy this game if you like card games and hooking story telling with choises. As gamedev myselfs I might say that the lads have done pretty f****ng good game, despite a few flaws.

I am really impressed by this game's visuals: The art style is gorgeous, the combat animations look and feel impactful and the variety of the depicted characters surprised me. All of them looked unique and the paladins resembled their repsective relics in a nice way. The soundtrack is also amazing, the theme for the main menu alone is beautiful and stuck to me. The story to me felt fine. You get to make A LOT of decisions and none of them felt like an illusion of choice and seeing the consequences of it all was really nice. I appreciate the rich world building but it's a little sad that you don't get to see a lot of it. I think the game may be too short for such a massive world to really get immersed in. Perhaps that "issue" could be resolved with multiple playthroughs but for only one, I sometimes felt overwhelmed. I also took issue with the last quarter of the game. There were a lot of battles, barely 5 minutes of downtime between them often times, very different from the usual pac...

This game is just so fun and unique and stylized its like playing Hades for the first time all over again! The art, music and writing all dance beautifuly and nail the atmosphere that the game aims for. Really, the only thing missing is voice acting and you have a genuinely great indie game on your hands (also the music just stops at random intervals so be ware of that) 8.6/10

Crown Gambit is one of those rare narrative strategy games that pulls you in with its depth and keeps you hooked with its replayability. The highlight for me is absolutely the heavily branching storyline — choices feel meaningful, with paths diverging in surprising ways. It really makes each playthrough feel unique, and I’m already excited to see how differently things can unfold when I make new decisions. The combat system is engaging, but I do wish it gave some kind of prediction or preview of the opponent’s upcoming turn. Even a subtle hint system would help players plan without making things too easy. It’s a small quality-of-life feature that could elevate the tactical side of the game. Another idea for the devs: it would be fantastic to have some sort of branching path map or tracker. With so many possible outcomes, being able to see where the story splits would make it easier (and more fun) for completionists to chase down alternate routes and achievements. Overall tho...

Some time ago, I asked people - are there indie games that a really good, but are kinda "under the radar", and not known to the majority. And one person pointed me to this game. And damn, it's stylish, good, and worth its money. Looking forward to the next one from these devs.

Love this game a lot. Not just its tasteful and dark art style, but also its riveting plot, lore and settings. Even though it's card battle, it's surprisingly immersive and exciting. We won't see a lot of quality games like this in the coming years sadly, so I especially cherish the lovely experience playing this hidden gem (haven't finished it yet!). I also greatly appreciate that this game presents a strong female protagonist, but not in a toxic "woke girl boss" way. She has lower starting HP than male ones (which is realistic). She's fierce and impulsive, but she can still be level-headed, wise and even compassionate depending on the players' choice. The male ones have their obvious flaws but they're also competent and likable enough.

Just picked up the game and over the past 4 days I played about 16 hours of it and beat my first playthrough. Story is great, gameplay is fun. Excellent game and I loved it... right up until the end. Not to give any spoilers here, but the very, very ending kind of soured me on the experience. The game as a whole, fantastic, but the way the story resolved felt very unsatisfying. Sadly I don't think anything that can be done about that, but to have a game with a story that's THIS good with a not-so-great conclusion was disappointing. I recommend the game, but just be prepared to not like the final few minutes.
