S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky - Enhanced Edition

The worst S.T.A.L.K.E.R game by far, every aspect of shadow of chernobyl has been maliciously modified to become insufferable, i don't even want to write them down. Extremely buggy, no upgrades have been made to this censored "enhanced" edition.

Enhanced Edition that was released just to remove Russian localization. Spiteful, childlike behavior.

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl is my childhood game. It always was and will be in my top 3 games. I have tried clear sky before but never actually played it like i cared. everyone knows how buggy and messy it is. when i heard about about Enhanced edition and i see i have them in library(If you own original trilogy, ED is given free) i give it a try. as i said i have not continue playing original one becouse of bugs. now i cant finish game becouse bugs. i close my eyes at everything but MAIN STORY? cant finish main story becouse crashes at some point. no, it is not approved. game is broken. i already say what i like and dont like about ED trilogy when i post review on Shadow of Chernobyl(i give it recommended) and not gonna repeat it here but just dont even play Clear Sky in this state. dont waste your money on this excuse of "enhancment" edition. if you interest more read my review about SoC. sorry for my broken english and thanks for reading.

My Lord man i love the Stalker series and i finished the first 3 and the new one now i finished the first one enhanced but now on clear sky ? it is soooooooo buggy i played for 6 hours and it just stacks on bug where u put ur weapon away mid fight and cant get it back out or just the name crashes when i open the menu. What happend ? i never had that with the old game

it's clear sky, the worst of the three original stalker games, now playable without being forced to apply community fixes (though you still can!). even so, i like clear sky more than i remembered liking clear sky, but they doubled down on the parts where you shoot endless guys rather than adding much in the way of zone exploration. you dont even get a single new underground lab, and all enemies including mutants are labeled on the map, so you're never surprised by anything! the new maps made for clear sky are really great looking, which makes the old maps from shadow of chornobyl stick out - especially since a vast majority of the game takes place in the old maps. one of the things i really did appreciate about this game was the recontextualization of territory - abandoned or zombie-infested areas are now bases, and vice versa. clear sky (and now stalker 2) are the only games to demonstrate just how the familiar parts of the zone can change over time - not just with anomaly fields and...

great sequel, changed gameplay a bit (from the original), still feels like 2008, now you can join smelly bandits, actual action music, 8/10

Well it seems they did a good job fixing most crashes, I've played with version 1.2 and only got around 5 crashes out of 40 hours of play which is a huge improvement over the EE v. 1.0 and the original Clear Sky. Great series of games that I'm glad to revisit.

While I gave "Recommended" to the "enhanced" edition of SoC despite all the drawbacks, I can't bring myself to do so for Clear Sky. The baseline stays the same - the bugs from the original got no fixes, in fact, it's even buggier still (played a few months after launch). The big new feature compared to SoC, the faction wars, is just as broken as it was in the original - and when you add into account a much more "meh" story, new locations full of pretty much nothing (no spoilers, but last big location is the laziest game design ever) the game becomes really, really tedious at times. Graphic "uplift", once again, is just removing Soviet-era symbols to censor their own original vision. Still hardly playable without any mods that fix stuff devs clearly didn't care to fix.

If you like military type of games, I would recommend this game.

Re-releasing a game without fixing any of the bugs but lazily censoring Russian/Soviet elements of the original is incredibly disappointing and a great example of the stupidity of nationalism.
