Got this because I loved Gris, but Neva makes me think they lucked into that greatness with their first game, or had nothing else to say. The aesthetics and music are still amazing, but the stuff they've added (combat, companion) detracts. Most importantly, the tightly woven connections between mechanics, art direction, and narrative are gone, leaving Neva feeling like a mediocre platformer where Gris was a work of art that could only have been realized as a videogame. Gris had an emotional arc. Neva just has the same emotional beat hit again and again. It feels like they decided they couldn't do the "girl overcomes trauma" story a second time, but had nothing else to say, so in an attempt to recapture the emotional depth of their first game they just rely on "people love dogs." Gris' flow of emotions, its rising and falling action, has been replaced with "dog is away! dog is back. Dog is away! Oh, dog is back." And each reunion repeats not just the same emotional note but reuses the ...

About This Game
Neva is an emotionally-charged action adventure from the visionary team behind the critically acclaimed GRIS.
Neva chronicles the story of Alba, a young woman bound to a curious wolf cub following a traumatic encounter with dark forces. Together they embark on a perilous journey through a once-beautiful world as it slowly decays around them.
Over time, their relationship will evolve as they learn to work together, helping one another to brave increasingly dangerous situations. The wolf will grow from a rebellious cub to an imposing adult seeking to forge her own identity, testing Alba’s love and their commitment to one another.
As the cursed world threatens to overwhelm them, Alba and her courageous companion will do whatever it takes to survive and make a new home, together.

best fucking game i ever played, mf got me crying n shit goated ass game bro goatttteed
not usually my type of game but SO worth it for the story, art, and music. very playable on story mode, even if puzzle-platforming isn't your thing <3
Initially, when i just started playing Neva it felt like a more sweet, chill type of game (i am not even gonna talk about the beauty of its world). Even though in the beginning there was a tragic sacrifice depicted. But as i played the game, i discovered plenty of new things about this game and how i felt about it. I think i made a mistake for myself trying to compare it to "Gris" in the beginning. Because the stories, they are totally different. The impression i got from Neva is that, this game grows on you day by day or hour by hour as you play it. You might not notice it but you start feeling something after a while. This is one of the games where you get fond of the intensity, storyline and characters that the ending can have a big impact on you. At least this is what happened to me. I am glad i played it. Thank you to Nomada Studio. You guys really know how to make touching emotional experiences that stay with players long after the credits roll.
neva is nomada studio proving that they can create a surprisingly tight platforming+combat experience AND an artistically breathtaking aesthetic AND emotionally hold you at gunpoint in the world's prettiest Don't Cry challenge.
Neva is yet an other beautiful game made by a passionate team. I still like GRIS a little bit more because of the the emotional impact that this game does compare to NEVA. Also there's less puzzle, which I'm fan of, but more combat. So it's more of a personal thing. Still great art design and music. A really, thought short, but amazing experience, once again!
Short but sweet. It's a beautiful game and story. The soundtrack is great too. It's a pretty linear experience but there's a lot of exploring and puzzle solving you can do. The platforming and combat are simple but engaging and the dog companion is well done. I finished it in just under 6 hours and missed a few collectibles here and there. I played Gris before this one and while I liked that game a lot I loved this one more. Well worth it to me.
it good game you will have fun if you like the previous game form the studio (gris) the have many things in common but the one thing i wish to they male the game longer and more challenging like gris
Nice game, worth playing and clearing, but it does not have such impact as game "Gris". The winter part is just boring as if developers wanted to finish the game as soon as possible.
As much as I hate to admit it, I really enjoyed this game. It will make you cry like the first time you ever watched “Homeward Bound” … you have been warned. The soundtrack, while good, didn’t pack as much of a punch as Gris, but was still a good fit for the game. Art? Absolutely gorgeous *chef’s kiss* I enjoyed the puzzles and different mechanics and thought they were introduced to the game in a really great way. Played this game straight through back-to-back and enjoyed every minute (except the crying)
