Maybe this game is for people that hate themselves, IDK. 20+ hours and I'm really no farther or more entertained then when I started. You ever play a mobile game where your level last one minute, then you have to watch an ad. Yeah that is this game. Your runs last about 1-2 minutes. Then you die and spend a good 10-20 seconds getting back into a run, just to repeat infinitely. I know, I know, roguelite. However I play lots of them and they all give me 10 minutes to an hour on a run before reset. I never feel strong, better or have more fun with this game.

About the Game
Rogue Legacy is a genealogical rogue-"LITE" where anyone can be a hero. Each time you die, your child will succeed you. Every child is unique. One child might be colorblind, another might have vertigo-- they could even be a dwarf.
That's OK, because no one is perfect, and you don't have to be perfect to win this game. But you do have to be pretty darn good because this game is HARD. Fortunately, every time you die all the gold you've collected can be used to upgrade you manor, giving your next child a step up in life and another chance at vanquishing evil.
But you shouldn't listen to me. You should check out the trailer. It explains the game better then I ever could.
If you really want to READ about this game though, then you should check out our bullet list below.

A roguelike where you can't accumulate meta currency over multiple runs until late game and an upgrade system where every time to upgrade 1 thing the cost of EVERY upgrade increases. There are less punishing roguelikes. Save some of your sanity and pass on this game.
longass stat grind
Absolutely loved this game The graphics are nice and soundtracks are great As well as the game is hard, espicially, neo bosses(but we don't talk about them) Very lame that many people skipped the first game and played the second one, but i can understand them(not forgive them though) Also the controls in this game are VERY unusual from most platformers and other rogue-like games, so you better prepare yourself since it will take a whole lot of practice to get used to it...God forbid, that down strike will haunt me for the rest of my life
my steam account says I last played this in november of 2016. I am writing this in a room containing every gaming option you could think of including virtual pinpall and full motion racing simulation. When you're as old as me and still trying to keep up with recent releases, coming back to a game like this is praise itself. It got me into roguelites but no other game brings the whimsical fun to certain death like this one. A true classic. And memory may fail me but I believe this is my first steam review after steam was first launched 20 years ago. Just wishlist already and make sure to not only buy but set aside half an hour to test when the discount comes.
Neat little roguelike platformer. Decently challenging game play for an average play through, with much tougher challenges in the NG+. Only negative is if you're a completionist Thanatophobia is one of the most annoying achievements I've seen in a game like this.
Yeah its a fun jumpy stabby killy game. And the Lament of Zor makes it feel shiny and new to come back to after a few years. GG guys.
i defeated 2 bosses, played 13 hours and still no way near completing the game so i decided to use cheat engine and finished the game. i cant play 50 hours for only stats. i gave myself infinite money and still died with complete stats while searching boss rooms. if you want to grind stats for at least 30 hours you can enjoy otherwise completely boring. game contains only 5 boss. if i played normally it would take at least 30 hours. i finished 3 assassins creed games in 30 hours, no way i can play that long game like this
Wasted way too many hours on this game for me to lie that i didn't enjoy it. I still suck at it but that does not negate my good memories of this. Difficult but fun. Story is actually somewhat interesting but you obviously play Rouge Legacy for the gameplay. A good rougelite to start out with i'd say. Challenging but there's strong upgrades to guide you through. Additional bosses where your upgrades are handicapped if you want to test your skills.
Fantastic game. Keeps you coming back over and over. Just beat it again. I beat it back when it first came out on Xbox years ago, and I'm so glad I revisited it now. Check it out.
