Refunded the game. I wanted to like it, but I felt it has some major things holding it back. 1) Enemy type balance - could easily be fixed by patches, but it feels like of the three enemies types in act 1 (spiders, undead, bandits) there's a definite wide gulf in difficulty between them.

Spiders are mostly manageable. I found myself picking them the most as a route option.
The rogue type bandits have the ability to hit like freight trains (10+ damage) and shred anyone they get near. They'll cut right through anyone trying to tank.
The undead's resistance to non-mace damage made them my last pick. Not to mention they also have mages, even in act 1, that can hit for 10+ on an AOE spell.
2) Player progression feels very limited and way too RNG dependent. Want another party member? Better hope you get the recruit event. Need to heal? Better hope for a camp. Want your tank to gain HP/defense? Better hope that your options aren't constantly damage bo...

About This Game

The king has been murdered, his throne taken by a usurper. Only you and a team of fearless heroes can restore the kingdom. Valiant Tactics is a turn-based roguelite RPG without hit chance RNG, where every encounter is a challenge, requiring you to adapt to a diverse range of foes, terrain, and even weather conditions. Will your group of five adventurers be the one to return the rightful bloodline to the throne?

A fresh experience with every playthrough
Play as 8 unique characters, each with distinct playstyles and abilities
Face off against 9 enemy factions and 10 boss fights
Shape your journey through 40 dynamic events and make choices that impact your run
Master over 120 weapons and equipment pieces, each with unique effects
Customize your builds with 30 masteries and talents tailored to your strategy
Tackle the challenge with 10 difficulty levels designed for high replayability
Every Attack Hits
You won't miss an attack due to chance to hit. Neither will the enemy. Valiant Tactics is about managing your abilities and their cooldown, choosing the right one at the right time. Maybe a basic attack will deal enough damage to kill an enemy. Maybe you should get a guaranteed kill with an ability - but perhaps it might be more useful in the next turn?
Diverse Tactical Scenarios
Every battle you fight will be different: Every enemy type has its own strengths, weaknesses, and tactics. Weather can change the battlefield dramatically and change your carefully laid plans for better or worse.
A Team of Heroes
Adventurers will join your quest for a fee, defined by one of distinct classes, complete with stats and abilities. You define how your team grows with each victory, including distinct talents and masteries.
Arm for Battle
A hero is as good as their equipment, from rugged, commonplace gear to legendary artifacts. Loot new items from enemies defeated in battle - or save up and pay merchants to expand your armory for the coming battles.
Make Decisions
There’s more than just battles. As you journey to confront the usurper, you'll run into unique encounters. Every decision you make in these random events matters and can potentially affect your party and its chances to prevail.

Decent game for what it is. Pick up on sale, note this game has no controller support so does not work on steam deck like I had hoped. Hopefully this will be added at some point, but for now decent rogue-lite tactics game to mindlessly burn time on.
I don't usually write reviews, but this is my new account, and this was one of the first games I bought on it. The game is fresh and definitely deserves more reviews, so I decided to give it a try. At first, I lost 4 games in a row. It felt extremely difficult, and the enemies seemed unbalanced. But after spending more time with it, I started to understand how the game works. Each enemy type has its own strengths and weaknesses. For example, Bandits felt overpowered at first, but once I started positioning near barrels and using explosions, they became much easier to deal with. Skeletons are extremely strong too, but if you keep Divine Aura on your Cleric and use shield buffs on your team, they become far less threatening since most of their damage is AOE-based. The core idea of the game is to adapt your party to the enemies you choose to fight—since you get to pick your battles. The late-game becomes incredibly fun and unpredictable. You never know what loot you’ll get or which...
A really enjoyable game that's perfect for playing a few rounds to clear your head during a work break. My only suggestions would be to add a tutorial for new players, as it took me a while to figure everything out. Also, an option to speed up enemy turns would be a fantastic addition for those of us who want to get back into the action quickly.
I would say that it is a great start, I really enjoyed my first play of this game, I like idea, I was really chilling out and I almost every time was interesting what will gonna happen in the next steps, For now I had a possibility to challenge only one Boss and I would say it was interesting and quite challenging. honestly I really enjoyed it.
A great game. I enjoyed the variety of heroes. In my opinion, the game really opens up and reaches its full potential after unlocking all the champions. Before that, it feels more like a tutorial phase. I personally went with the slayer tactic—it’s easy to one-shot bandits since there are three of them. You go to the backline, take them out, gather loot, and by the second safe zone interaction, you already have a full squad to take down the boss. My friend, on the other hand, uses two marksmen with a tanky frontline. I really enjoy games that offer this kind of variety, where multiple strategies are viable but you can still lose regardless. You can tell the developers spent a lot of time tweaking the stats. At first glance, the game might seem extremely unbalanced, but as you play, you discover new strategies—sometimes it even feels too easy. I think this is a great example of “easy to learn, hard to master.” A fantastic game, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys th...
Awesome! I like the game very much! Enjoyed playing it. Can't stop since i bought it, ive been playing for 4 hours straight. The variety of hero classes, their skills, abilities and unique items makes the game interesting and complex.
It's nice and fast, and I really like the art of this game. I wish that I could access the recruits or shop on demand because then it would open up taking riskier options instead of always picking the path of least resistance (spiders). Overall though, I'm liking it so far!
The art, the strategy, and variety that Valiant Tactics offer is compelling and captivating. If you like Turn-Based Tactical challenges, you will enjoy this game. The leaderboard is a fascinating addition for your competitive side. The developers are deeply involved with the community and appreciate your feed back to improve your gaming experience.
great game, you need to try, and if you try you will be addicted to this game. Good works guys, regards from 3pl dejan :-)
