Demon Scrolls is the 9th game released by Wolfs Moon Studios and the first one utilizing 8-bit aesthetics. If you like any of Wolfs Moon Studios' other games and/or if you like classic old-school JRPGs with 8-bit aesthetics and made with RPG Maker (MV) in general - which is highly likely if you're reading this review -, you'll probably enjoy this game very much, since it provides dozens of hours of JRPG fun. As I wrote in my reviews regarding Wolfs Moon Studios' other games, their greatest strength is to provide an enjoyable process of getting stronger, including varied enemies that drop amazing loot. Outgrinding the challenge and decking your party with cool equipment has rarely been more fun. Battles - which are all random encounters except for the bosses - are the usual turn-based fare, and they can be challenging if you don't prepare for them or if you take them lightly, but even just moderate knowledge about JRPG mechanics should be sufficient to prevail over any foe in this game...

I’m not fond of the graphics – but don’t let that put you off! I thoroughly enjoyed the game. I took 24 hours to complete it (the 25.5 shown includes a chunk of non-playing time when RL intruded) – I think I found everywhere worth visiting, but a world map would have been welcome. I love the drop rates of healing items and decent gear, but the miss rate felt a bit high. There was no real need to grind, but a bit to get plenty of good items was worth doing, especially in the early stages.

A little over five hours into this game and I already love it. Highly recommend for those that love the older Dragon Warriors or Final Fantasys.

Enjoyed the game. Very basic old school but good for its genre. There is a lot of grinding necessary to win the battles to get the best gear. And the best gear is necessary (in my view) to finish the game.

Ah, Demon Scrolls, a game that's like a warm, nostalgic hug from the video games of your youth! Remember the good ol' days of the '90s, when game characters had big pixels and even bigger personalities? Well, get ready to be whisked away on a hilarious time machine, because Demon Scrolls brings that nostalgic essence as if a master wizard summoned the past. From the moment you launch the game, you'll be transported back to your childhood, sitting cross-legged on the floor in front of your CRT TV, fingers eagerly clutching a chunky controller. The pixelated graphics in Demon Scrolls evoke the same sense of wonder and pixel-art charm that graced the screens of those bygone days. It's like a time capsule opened up, revealing all the quirkiness and simplicity that made those games so endearing. The game's protagonist, Wayland, embodies the spirit of those iconic characters from the '90s. He's a lovable underdog, unsure of himself but thrust into a world of magical chaos. Wayland is the k...

The old school graphics worked fantastically as the game itself is another outstanding rpg by Wolfs Moon. The challenge, fun factor, creatures, combat, length of playtime, and huge quantity of items, weapons, and armor are just few of the great features of this well made rpg. The story, gameplay, and good number of characters (with their unique skills and magic) is addictive and enjoyable, Plenty of places and islands to explore outside of the main story quest and getting an airship is a bonus. Super highly recommended.

Another Wolfs Moon Studios game in the book and onto the next! the 8 bit format is interesting, and it can be beautiful. I didn't really love the constant hordes, but made it through them. The dungeons were easily navigated, much appreciated Shane. I was constantly in my menu after each battle to restore and cure party members, but expected with hordes I guess. All in all, I would play this game.

Good game all around. Apart from the music, that will make your ears bleed. Relatively easy, albeit harder than many similar games with a single difficulty setting. Last boss can be an issue, if you are not familiar with the dev's other games. Essentially you need to be able withstand his one attack attack, or you will have to go out and get sturdy enough. Beating the rest of the game is not really indicative to your sturdiness. I knew better, yet I still invested a ridiculous amount of money in increasing Dexterity instead of Health, just so I would be able to run away from encounters. I regret nothing. Surviving with 1hp still counts and that is all you need. It has a somewhat open world, but there is still a linear path you are expected to follow. If you are having serious trouble with an area, you just shouldn't be there. If you struggle, but it's doable, you shouldn't be wasting your time there. This is a chill game you should be playing while listening to music or watching a mov...

another awesome game from wolfs moon studios. I love the old school style of the game. You get plenty of items in drops which is always a plus, its just the right difficulty, not too easy and not frustratingly hard. The story line is good and is definitely a game you will sit down to play and hours will go by before you realize it. This developer always puts his heart and soul in all his games, this one does not disappoint. It is a nice escape to sit down and play a game that reminds you of games you played years ago.
