About This Game
For a certain kind of person
To hurt them.
Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is a punishing climbing game, a homage to Jazzuo's 2002 B-Game classic 'Sexy Hiking'. You move the hammer with the mouse, and that's all there is. With practice, you'll be able to jump, swing, climb and fly. Great mysteries and a wonderful reward await the master hikers who reach the top of the mountain.
To quote Jazzuo himself: "The hiking action is very similar to way you would do it in real life, remember that and you will do well".
- Climb up an enormous mountain with nothing but a hammer and a pot.
- Listen as I make philosophical observations about the problem at hand.
- Between 2 and ∞ hours of agonizing gameplay, depending. The median time to finish for my playtesters was 5 hours, but the mean was closer to ∞.
- Lose all your progress, over and over.
- Feel new types of frustration you didn't know you were capable of.
- Magical reward awaits hikers who reach the top.
Epilepsy warning: contains some surprising elements.

Very stress relieving game. Very peaceful and will calm you down wonderfully. Highly recommend this to sooth your anger and calm you down
One of my least favourite rage games, the roblox version genuinely feels so much cleaner than this. A good rage game has good, smooth controls with difficult gameplay, the "rage" comes from the controls being so bad, and i think people are forced to like this game because its an iconic rage game, no other reason.
I usually don't rage quit many games. I get angry at them, but not too angry. This game is an exception. I can't play for more than ten minutes at a time without becoming irrationally angry. Nevertheless, its pretty fun.
Game sucks dick its physics makes no sense and the guy speaking is so god damn annoying i want to sock him in the jaw. spend 7 dollars just to wast my time and do nothing but anger me. DO NOT buy ts
The game is fun. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
This game is a masterpiece. In fact, I don't even know if I can classify it as a game. Sure, you have to input commands, but I compare this experience to more of an art exhibit than anything else. It will be rough, but if you can truly reach the end and really listen to Bennett, you will understand. Reach the top 50 times, and you will feel a way very few other things can make you feel. I can't even describe the feeling. You would think it would be relief, but it's not. It's more... silent. It feels quiet. I can't really explain it, so please, I beg of you, just do it.
I think Markiplier was overreacting, I've beaten this game 143 times atp, and have not once gotten genuinely angry at it. I was watching a video essay the other day, and the person in the video claimed that this "isn't the kind of game you play for fun" and that it's more suited for content, but I personally disagree. I love you Bennett Foddy and I love getting over it with you. I mean, yeah, it's difficult but also such a good time waster, especially when your hands are momentarily compromised. I usually play this game when I paint my nails :]
Honestly the game itself wouldn't be THAT difficult if it weren't for the controls. If you played games like Celeste and other "difficult" game, you know the difference between actual difficulty and just bad controls, this is one such case. That being said, the entire rest of the game is really good. the obstacles and the design of the terrain are one and the same, which is great to make a simple-looking passage into an actual hell lol. Unlike a lot of other games like this, there's no moment you *need* luck in a sort of "50/50 it works or not" kinda way, it's always a question of trying and learning from mistakes. The monologues are a good bonus too, even if they are sometimes rage-inducing too xd. Overall I'd give it a solid 9/10 if it weren't solely for the fucked up controls. Because of them it's a 3/10.
The game fulfills me in an indescribable way. First it filled me with disappointment, then anger, failure, and resentment towards my inability to complete the game. After I had finished the game, I understood what it truly meant. It helped me understand why failures happen, but more importantly, to embrace the fact that time can be lost through effort.
