About This Game

Product Description:

A remastered version of Fate/stay night, fantasy action drama visual novel and TYPE-Moon's first-ever commercial release in 2004, will be released on Steam® for its 20th anniversary.
The remaster is based on the 2012 PS VITA release of Fate/stay night Realta Nua, featuring series-first adaptation into languages such as English and Simplified Chinese, as well as graphics and animations rendered in full HD. Experience in vivid detail the story of Shirou Emiya, a teenage boy with dreams of becoming a Hero of Justice, and his battle revolving around the omnipotent wish-granting vessel, the Holy Grail.
With numerous entries in the ever-expanding Fate series, including the mobile game Fate/Grand Order, the curtains of Fate, the Origin, rise once again.

Story:

—The Holy Grail War—

A ritual held in Fuyuki City by magi grasping to reach the Root.
Seven magi, known as Masters, gather to compete over possession of the Holy Grail, which possesses the power to fulfill any of its bearer's wishes.
They fight other Masters for supremacy by summoning Heroic Spirits, known as Servants, called upon by the Holy Grail.
However, throughout the past four Holy Grail Wars, history has yet to see a single victor.
During the Fourth Holy Grail War ten years ago, Shirou Emiya was saved from amidst the fires of war by the self-proclaimed mage Kiritsugu Emiya.
The young Shirou started living with Kiritsugu and persistently asked for instruction in magecraft, much to the mage's disapproval. On the night prior to Kiritsugu's death, Shirou promised his adoptive father that he'll become a Hero of Justice.

Fast forward to the present.
On one quiet eve, Shirou gets involved in the Holy Grail War and is assailed by a Servant.
Just as the glint of steel threatens to take his life, a girl clad in knightly armor appears to stop the fatal attack.
The Servant, who came to the rescue of the would-be Hero of Justice, and the Master, saved by the Heroic Spirit of the Sword; their fates are in motion...

WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! YEAH BABY THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT. WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! FINALLY. Fate/Stay Night has officially released on PC after more than 20 YEARS!!! This is almost as old as me. it's literally part of my childhood. I remember being introduced to the franchise through the 2006 DEEN animation before. It was good for its time, and it made some liberties that it stuck with the franchise for the years to come. This game, despite being the censored one due to the original being an erotic visual novel, still explains the core story well without removing much. Really, I think Sakura is the only one that stays almost R-18 if I remember correctly. To all Fate fans who started with Fate Grand Order and more recent titles, PLAY THIS DAMN GAME!!!! Always start with where it all started.

If we are being honest, the game doesn't feel very remastered, only feels redrawn so the art isn't as pixelated. The game is clunky, the navigation it's still uncomfortable and everything that was uncomfortable in the original (like how to track previous choices) feels odd. Whilst I wasn't a fan of the erotic scenes, the lack of them in this remastered version makes some moments a bit weird, specially in the Heaven's Feel route on which they play a very core part of the whole story thematic and character build up. If you are not a Fate fan, the story is very outdated and the MC (Shirou) is way unlikeable in the V/N, you will find better adaptations and protrayals of all the characters but Taiga in the anime adaptations. If you come from any other Fate adaptation you will find a heavy downgrade while looking at the original. The biggest source of fun of the V/N and the only reason I would recommend the game is hunting the "Tiger stamps" (bad endings).
Holy moly this game is long
Okay, this game is a banger. I didn’t know what to expect going in, but damn, what a journey. The game consists of three routes: Fate – a hero’s journey that, to be honest, kinda sucks. After completing it I was disappointed and swore I wouldn’t play the game anymore. Thankfully, I randomly saw a moment from the next route and decided to give it another chance. The main problem here is pacing. The game has a day-to-day structure, but they clearly didn’t have enough content to fill all 16 days. Many people clown on the adaptation of this route, but honestly there’s not much to it. 4.5/10 Unlimited Blade Works – a deconstruction of the hero’s journey where the main character’s values are challenged. This route is my favorite, probably because of Archer and also because it’s the shortest one, so it doesn’t waste time. Still, it has a problem: the story keeps going for quite a while after what should’ve been i...

As someone who originally watched the anime adaptations, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the VN. It's kind of amazing that it feels like an entire trilogy of books wrapped into one package. The Fate route on its own would have worked as a fairly complete story with a tidy ending, but Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel both just massively expand on it with their own original stories that perfectly compliment one another. I think there are definite lulls in the pacing (particularly in Fate and Heaven's Feel) that did make it feel like a slight slog at point, but man, those stretches of the story where the author is past all of the setup and can just deliver non-stop, raw character moments and action scenes is just something else. I think that it might take the crown as my favorite visual novel, and I highly recommend it to others as the best way to experience the original story.

Pretty good read. Fate/stay night was an enjoyable read. I understand why people were/are fond of this series - it lends itself to a lot of scenarios to explore. The world is expansive and fun to toy around with. I thoroughly enjoyed parts of it, though the some parts were not as enjoyable to read. I gave it a 7.5/10 on vndb.

I was hesitant for years to read the VN because I watched the anime, but after remastered came out decided to give it a try. It was worth it. Just the intense heartbreak I felt after Saber's route made it worth. I've cried over all 3 routes, really. It's a little exposition heavy at times and sometimes Nasu really needs an editor, but it was worth the journey. I'm glad I experienced this story.

This is my First VN and I can tell you Its my last, Might as well bought a book. Rant about FATE/STAY NIGHT (READ IF YOU SEEN THE MOVIES AND SHOW) Let me start by saying FATE is a mix series for Me, a friend got me started on the Heavens Feel movies and it was on from there, I got Interested in the other FATE/SN's because of one characters work, I wanted to at least see her kiss the main character, boy was I disappointed UBW ending
handshake
left me pissed, I generally found the story to be weak but humorous because of the Emiya (Main Character)
bro is gets killed, injured, put down so hard I was thinking to myself Is this the guy I'm rooting for and there are times were I'm like yeah but NOT IN HF, he gets killed a TOTAL of 5 times in a 3 part movie even his future self hates him and his no better and don't get me started on his servant Saber/ KING ARTHUR she got the worst master imaginable because bro won't kill in a "war" Saber is barely the...

This is my first venture into this series but so far I can't just get into it. Idk if it's bad localization or something but the constant contradicting is jaunting. How they explain the world, to their own actions. Make it make sense ffs. World building is too important to say one thing but then do the next.
