I love FF3 as a game. It provides a balanced challenge which is something no other Final Fantasy game really does. Personally I'd recommend the Pixel Remaster over the 3D Remake... Especially if you want something more closer to the original game. The 3D remake features number of changes to gameplay, story and visuals. For example 3D remake replaces the warriors of light with proper characters and the job system has been reworked. (Just a note that the Pixel Remaster also features number of changes but less and the changes it has make more sense in the context of this game imho.) Overall this is a good release. Especially if you want to see the game in 3D. The remake features visually fairly typical late-2000s Final Fantasy art style with its cute graphics inspired by cutesy PS1 era visual style. Music and audio is great but doesn't really have that *umf* of some of the other titles in the series. Story in FF3 isn't a mind blowing piece of literature and it is self-aware of that fact...

Some people complain about the game being unfair for not letting you save file on dungeons or towns, but well, that is the mechanics of this one, you just get to save in the world map before going inside. Asides that, I think this one is probably one of the most enjoyable Final Fantasy games I have played, and I am only missing a couple from the main line. The story is very simple yet entertaining, and the characters remind me of Dungeons & Dragons, being so plain that you just almost feel it is you there instead of them. The job system is not the best on the franchise but it works well and the game doesn't require massive grinding, so I think it is a good options for a light RPG adventure. Neither the gameplay nor the story will make you sweat but you'll have a good time.
One of my first games on DS!
I went into this game expecting it to be pretty bad based on what I’d heard, but honestly, it wasn’t that terrible. That being said, unless you’re a die-hard Final Fantasy fan, I’d highly recommend going for the Pixel Remaster instead of this version. The grind here is much heavier, and aside from some minor story and mechanic differences, you’re not missing much. I did enjoy seeing the world brought to life with the 3D models, but overall, this version feels like a downgrade compared to the Pixel Remaster. If you’re looking to play Final Fantasy III, definitely pick the Pixel Remaster over the 3D remake.
I love this game but this version has so many problems that I cannot recommend it. You have to download the 86x version of this to even start it: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784 Then you'll find that having BGM is a diceroll. The Battle UI also looks like RPG Maker.
I've been a fan of final fantasy for a long time, played the first FF game on a PS1, played IX (9) and also a few others (those two were my favorite before) I've played FF3 a few times but always find myself coming back to it just for a casual cozy memory that isn't too hard to just unwind from the stresses of the adult world. Also, cute outfits for fashion if you like that over actual team comp building. XD
Its fun
ive been replaying the old FF games, and this has been a pleasure. I love this game and the only negative take away I have is the final dungeon. In the remake, they had the chance to give us a save point in the final dungeon, and they didn't. This has really killed my enthusiasm for finishing the game. I have challenged the boss about 4 times now, and each time, it takes at least half an hour to reach it, only to die and have to go and grind my characters for a chance to win again. It's demoralising. But beyond that, this is a good game. I've just been having a bad time of it for the final boss.
